@borrowNOTrent@MorePerfectUS Yup. The difference between a monopoly (section 2) and a cartel (section 1) is actually vast, at least legally. Not unlawful to be a monopoly unless achieved through anticompetitive means. Cartel behavior- price fixing, market allocation- is always unlawful.
@borrowNOTrent@MorePerfectUS This lawsuit isnβt about monopolies, it alleges price fixing. Impossible for any agency to prevent price fixing since it does not happen out in the open. Can only be remedied after the fact - which is why the penalties are high: treble damages, and if criminal, jail time.
