NEW EU MIGRATION RULES START TODAY
The Migration Pact enters into force with one of the most modern border management systems in the world.
Its goals:
🔵 Stronger external borders
🔵 Faster asylum procedures
🔵 More cooperation with third countries
🔵 More effective return policies for those with no right to stay in the EU
🔵 Fair treatment for those in need of protection while preventing abuse of the system
Ultimately, EU countries - not migrant smugglers - must decide who enters Europe.
But the Migration Pact is not the finish line. It’s the foundation for a policy where the EU takes back control of migration.
The transatlantic partnership is one of the most important relationships in the world, and it remains central to the EU’s future.
At the @EPPGroup Study Days, we are discussing how our shared history continues to underpin this bond.
A bond that has been built over generations.
When it mattered, we stood together. Today, the EU and the US have the world’s largest economic partnership, generating €1.6 trillion in economic activity and supporting five million jobs.
But this partnership is bigger than trade. It is about democracy, security and supporting Ukraine in the face of aggression.
A relationship built on shared values and a shared responsibility to defend them.

The leader of the Fine Gael delegation in the European Parliament, @SeanKellyMEP MEP, said ahead of the EPP Group’s Summer University taking place on 10–12 June that the event will be a welcome boost for the region: "I look forward to welcoming the EPP Group to Ireland later this week, alongside my colleagues Maria Walsh, Nina Carberry and Regina Doherty. We will debate significant future policies and look ahead to the incoming Irish EU Presidency. The @EPPGroup Study Days kick off in Galway 🇪🇺🇮🇪
From transatlantic relations to global security, the challenges facing Europe demand strong leadership and close partnerships.
With Ireland set to assume the EU Presidency in July, these discussions could not be more timely.
As our MEP @MariaWalshEU said: “With solid, reliable leadership from Ireland and Europe, we can build bridges based on shared values and mutually beneficial partnerships.”

A special moment at Knock Shrine during the @EPPGroup Study Days in Galway.
This place has welcomed generations of people seeking hope, reflection and community. These are also values that matter deeply to our democracies: respect for human dignity, solidarity and a commitment to the common good.
As Europe faces new challenges, we are reminded that strong societies are built not only on institutions, but also on the values that bring people together.

At Knock Shrine, we were reminded that unity is one of Europe's greatest strengths.
As a political family with Christian democratic roots, the @EPPGroup believes that our European way of life is built on values that bring people together: responsibility, solidarity, respect for human dignity, and service to the common good.
In a changing world, preserving that unity remains essential for Europe's future.

The best ideas often emerge when people come together.
The EPP Group Study Days are more than politics. They are about bringing people together, learning from one another, and building the relationships that help us tackle Europe's challenges as one team.

The EPP Group is heading to a very special place. Join MEP @MariaWalshEU on this journey from the European Parliament to...Galway!
Nestled on Ireland's stunning west coast, this city has long connected Europe and the United States through people, business and shared values.
Over the next three days, EU lawmakers, policymakers and business experts will discuss the defining challenges facing Europe today: competitiveness, quality jobs, transatlantic relations and global security.
At a time of growing uncertainty around the world, these conversations matter - for Europe's future and for the people and businesses that depend on it.
@FineGael
Over 100 leading EU lawmakers, policy and business experts will gather in County Galway, Ireland, for the EPP Group’s Summer University taking place on 10–12 June. EPP Group Chairman @ManfredWeber MEP said that transatlantic relations, the economy, competitiveness and global security are set to dominate the agenda of the three-day meeting.
The Chairman stated, "We must show leadership by promoting our core values, strengthening our economic prospects and protecting the livelihoods of people across our Union."

In Sarajevo, we took part in the panel discussion, “Launching Enlargement: The EPP’s Leadership Role in the Western Balkans,” together with @EPP President @ManfredWeber, Montenegrin Prime Minister @MickeySpajic, and High Representative @OHR_BiH Christian Schmidt.
We emphasized the importance of positive momentum for the EU enlargement policy in the context of changed geopolitical circumstances.
Croatia is a strong advocate of 🇪🇺 enlargement in the #WesternBalkans, and we are particularly committed to supporting the European perspective of neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina. This issue is crucial for the stability of Southeast Europe.
Despite the complexity and challenges of the enlargement process, we believe it is essential to remain actively engaged on this issue and keep it high on the 🇪🇺 agenda and in future discussions.

Congratulations to @ReinholdLopatka on his election as President of the Robert Schuman Institute.
With his strong European experience and belief in education strengthening democracy, he will give new impetus to the Institute’s mission to train the political leaders of tomorrow.
Russia’s disinformation campaign in Africa must be stopped. Russia continues to be the primary source of disinformation in the region, actively seeking to undermine democratic developments and promote anti-Western sentiment. Europe must pay close attention to what is happening outside of our borders. @eppgroup #EUDS
Today, the Committee on International Trade adopted the provisional agreement on the Framework Agreement on Trade with the United States — an important step towards final adoption on 16 June.
As @EPPGroup rapporteur, I welcome this result and thank all colleagues for the constructive cooperation. Today, we showed responsibility and delivered another positive signal in support of stronger EU–US trade relations.
Strong partnerships create strong businesses. 🇪🇺🇺🇸
Promise delivered!
Thanks to @fxbellamy and @tomastobe for the strong and clear agreement reached today to stepping up the fight against illegal migration: those who have no right to stay in the EU must be returned.
Citizens asked for EU solutions, the @EPPGroup is delivering.
🚨 Deal tonight in the trilogue on the Return Regulation. A clear step toward a more credible European migration system: those who do not have the right to stay in Europe must return. A fair and balanced agreement. @EPPGroup has been key and great work by @fxbellamy.
🚨 56 days and counting.
How many more days will European children remain unprotected online?
Behind every “legal gap” lies a real-world consequence.
This is what we are missing:
◼️38 reports every minute
◼️54,795 reports every day
◼️20 million reports every year
The EU must restore legal clarity to detect and report Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) online.
Protect children, not predators ‼️
