Insha Malik was 14-years-old when shotgun pellets fired by Indian forces blinded her in Kashmir.
Years later, she is speaking out against a Bollywood film she says downplays the devastating impact of pellet guns.

How Iran Pierced the U.S.-Israeli Air Defense Shield: The Strikes on Arad and Dimona.📜
In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Iran successfully penetrated advanced American and Israeli air defense systems to strike the Israeli cities of Arad and Dimona. Resulting in over 100 injuries and marked a critical failure for the region's most sophisticated missile defense systems.
🔹The Attack and the Failure of Defense.
Iranian ballistic missiles targeted Dimona, home to Israel’s primary Nuclear Research Center. According to the Israelis, air defense systems were in operation, but failed to intercept the incoming missiles, resulting in direct hits. Footage from the scene showed extensive damage to residential buildings.
🔹The area was directly defended by THAAD.
What is THAAD?
Central to the defense of the region is the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.
Marketed by Lockheed Martin as "the world's most advanced terminal missile defense system".
Unlike explosive warheads, it uses "hit-to-kill" technology kinetic energy to destroy incoming short- and medium-range ballistic missiles at high altitudes, even outside the Earth's atmosphere.
A single THAAD battery costs roughly $1 billion, requires about 100 personnel to operate, and is designed to intercept missiles at ranges of up to 200 km and altitudes of 150 km.
🔹Why Did THAAD Fail?
While specific details regarding the failure at Dimona and Arad are not yet released, reports indicate that the Iranian strike may have been preceded by the destruction of a critical THAAD radar system in Jordan. Earlier in March, where Iran successfully struck a THAAD radar at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan a $300 million asset potentially creating a gap in the detection and tracking network.
Furthermore, the sheer volume of Iranian firepower overwhelmed the defenses.
The available videos we've seen suggest that Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles since the conflict intensified, straining U.S. and Israeli inventories to a critical point.
🔹Wider Implications?
The successful penetration of the Dimona region carries profound strategic implications:
1️⃣Stockpile Depletion: The conflict has exposed a dangerous vulnerability in "magazine depth."
The U.S. fired over 150 THAAD interceptors, nearly 25% of its entire inventory in the conflict's early stages. Replenishing these costs up to $2 billion and takes over a year, as the US can only produce about 100 interceptors annually. Israeli systems like the Arrow and Iron Dome also neared depletion.
2️⃣Strategic Redeployment: The strain in the Middle East has forced the U.S. to weaken its posture elsewhere. The U.S. is relocating parts of a THAAD battery from South Korea to West Asia.
3️⃣The Limits of Defense: Even expensive systems like THAAD cannot function as a standalone strategy. The reliance on "precise interceptions" creates a trap of economic and logistical burden. While tactically impressive, these defenses are time-limited, prohibitively expensive, and wear down quickly against an enemy willing to wage a war of attrition using industrial-scale missile stockpiles.
Remember, wars are won before it starts and on the factory floors. Especially in the age of drones.
From the last frames of the F-35 being hit by Iranian air defense.
It looks like some shrapnel got into the air intake and damaged the engine, but the airframe looked largely intact.
The important thing here is not whether a F-35 was shot down, it was the fact that Iran's air defense was able to detect, track, lock onto and shoot and damage a F-35.
This alone is a form of deterrence, forcing the US to continue using expensive standoff munitions with their non-stealth aircraft and avoid using F-35 with impunity.
The Haifa refinery (Bazan) is Israel’s largest and most critical fuel facility, supplying about 50–60% of the country’s fuel (≈60% diesel, 50% gasoline).
It processes roughly 197,000 barrels per day, meaning a large share of Israel’s transport, aviation, and military fuel depends on it.
Israel has only two refineries.
BREAKING: A U.S. F-35 jet made an emergency landing in the Middle East after being hit by suspected Iranian fire during a mission over Iran.
The jet landed safely and the pilot is stable, but the incident is under investigation.
