This post is pure historical revisionism.First, academic history validates that the Oriental Orthodox Church dates back to the 1st Century with an uncut chain of apostolic succession by names from St. Mark and St. Peter. What happened during Empress Theodora's time wasn't creating a parallel church; it was preserving the original one from Byzantine eradication.The real parallel hierarchy was the one forced upon Egypt and Syria by the Byzantine empire. You military backed Chalcedonians implanted "Melkite" bishops who were completely rejected by the native populations. They had zero grassroots support.Second, to the comment saying we should be persecuted until we "repent",repent for what? You are the ones who compromised the faith! Your own Council of Chalcedon, specifically in Session 10, accepted the Three Chapters (Theodoret, Ibas, and Theodore of Mopsuestia),the literal friends and defenders of Nestorius,based on absolutely nothing. Then, a century later at Constantinople II, you had to turn around and anathematize them because you realized you messed up! Even Nestorius himself praised Leo’s Tome and saw his own teachings in it.Before you incite hatred and call for our persecution, go fix your own contradictory dogmatic history. We didn't leave the Orthodox faith; you did.
