Fishy, Sepe, Sea Bass, Sebastian AAAAAAHHHHhhhhoooooooo. As Canes fans going to bat for our guys has always been part of the gig. Despite a lackluster offensive playoff (til it really mattered and defensively he stays underrated) there are few hills I’d be quicker to die on than if Aho played in a “traditional” market he’d be a consistent Selke finalist and if not for Bergeron and Barkov probably has a few on his resume. From the moment he cracked the NHL Aho has been a fan favorite and for good reason. Incredible 2 way center, never folds in a scrum but keeps it clean and in a way only guys like Rod and the Staal brothers have Sebastian truly embraced not just being a Hurricane but being “one of us” in this smaller market with a giant chip on its shoulder. In my opinion he’s the future captain of this team whenever Staal decides to hang up the skates. Aho and this core group still have a lot of runway to add to their story but this team will be in good hands whenever he gets the C on his chest. Have to add this in or I’ll be in the doghouse but he’s also my girlfriend’s favorite player. Quite the honor even if she has questionable taste 😅😊. There were several moments from the team celebrating on the ice that stuck with me but Aho and Rod going straight to each other tells you everything you need to know about how much this team, city and us fans mean to him. In return safe to say a lot of us Caniacs have become honorary #Finhockey fans thanks to guys like Aho and his former beloved line mate Turbo. Having watched Fishy grow into a man right in front of us couldn’t be prouder of him. And he’s just getting started 🍻
