@deloress_x @HeatherLuvsDuke I also like your point about learning other languages to make others feel comfortable around you. My grandma dreamed of being able to talk to me because she only spoke Spanish. She always wanted us to learn it for her but it seemed so hard. Now she is gone and I wish I would have
@No_SafeSpot @HeatherLuvsDuke I think this is a really good point. You can learn so much by just asking a question, but I always get so scared to actually do this. Sometimes just researching about another culture isn’t as beneficial as actually asking, even if it is scary.
@HeatherLuvsDuke 4) I had always wanted 2 move 2 France but when I went there they were rude to me because I couldn’t speak French in a restaurant and I almost cried. So the next time I go 2 France I will definitely come back knowing a lot more of the language!
@HeatherLuvsDuke 1) I think it is very important to research about other countries cultures before interacting with them. When I have gone to other countries I have been ignorant and not prepared myself ahead of time. #cmcic2019
@HeatherLuvsDuke 3) I want 2 be be able to do this next time when I go to other countries instead of just jumping in blindly. I also think linguistic knowledge is very helpful.
@HeatherLuvsDuke 2 I would have greatly embarrassed myself and offended people in these other countries without my dad, who was operating from a level of conscious competence. He had learned and prepared for the difference in culture so that he didn’t offend anyone.
@ZoeHJ98 @HeatherLuvsDuke I think that is a good point! My friend had a Korean exchange student stay with her, who couldn’t speak English. The only way they could talk with one another was through google translate.
@HeatherLuvsDuke 3) We made so many friends this way that we still keep in touch with to this day. Without having technology, we would not have made these friends and gotten to experience Europe in that way.
@HeatherLuvsDuke 1) I think that the internet has definitely been influential in intercultural relationships. It was been very important for me personally, as I have moved around a lot and been on trips, so I can keep in contact with my friends and family. #CMCIC19
@HeatherLuvsDuke 2) When I went to Europe me and my friend creating Tinder accounts to meet friends to show us around. We wanted to find all the local places people or ages went to and really find out about the culture from their perspective.
Hey guys I have to have a certain amount of people take my survey, before I can work on my final project! It would be very helpful for y’all to take this!!!

@HeatherLuvsDuke 3) This can shape my individual identity because I wouldn’t want to do something that goes against who I am, for the sake of conforming to what is popular. I try to not let pop culture tell me what is right and wrong.
@HeatherLuvsDuke 1)I think it is interesting how ideas of right and wrong can be formed via pop culture. Ex. I have seen selfdeprecating jokes have become very popular on social media. Many years ago that kind of talk would be looked down on. It is interesting how this changes with time #CMCIC19
@AlyssaKnupp @HeatherLuvsDuke That’s exactly what I was thinking! Pop culture can be really influential for what we believe to be true. Even if it isn’t necessarily right, we believe it to be right because everyone is telling us that’s what we have to do.
@molly_hancock21 @HeatherLuvsDuke I can relate to you guys as well! I was homeschooled and had friends talk about popular things and look at me and say “oh you probably don’t even understand what we are talking about” or “oh you probably aren’t allowed to watch this show.”
