@mkirschenbaum @KatherineBode I wonder if it’s the reader or the author who is perceived as unworthy. In the case of the Latinx works I study, the demand that Latinx writers make their codeswitching legible to monolingual readers is often perceived as reasonable/necessary. There’s a power imbalance here.
