A crowded media landscape. A mission people need to understand. High-pressure moments with little room for error.
That’s where K2 comes in.
We bring messaging that cuts through, strategy rooted in campaign discipline, and execution that connects communications, public affairs, fundraising, and events.
Good communications should move something forward.
The father of the two young girls who went viral after a man yelled at him for taking them into an empty women’s restroom has shared an update.
He said police were called and arrived quickly. Officers told him he did nothing wrong and even took the time to speak with his daughters. They reassured the girls that they were safe and that police are there to protect them.
He also thanked the QuikTrip employee who stepped in and helped during the situation. He made it clear he does not want the man who yelled at him to be harassed by anyone online.
Your mission is not meant to sit in the “About Us” tab.
It should show up in the room at your gala, in the story you pitch to reporters, in the message lawmakers hear, and in the reason donors decide to give.
Kristen Sheehan said it best: the job is turning mission into something people can understand, support, and act on.

Getting attention is easy. Getting the right message in front of the right people at the right time is the work.
That is the difference between K2 and other firms.

Ten years in, and still not interested in doing PR the usual way.
Thank you to the @MSPBJnews for featuring K2 & Co. and the work Kristen Sheehan and Kirsten Kukowski have built around strategy, urgency, and making missions actionable.

The K2 team attended the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Meet the Newsroom event for a chance to connect with local reporters and hear what’s shaping coverage in the Twin Cities.
Always valuable to stay close to the local media landscape.
Our feeds used to be posts from people we follow in the order it was posted, but not anymore. When crafting posts for clients at @k2andcompany , we really have to think about what, when, and why.
We're staying on top of the algorithm so you don't have to!
Goals, audience, platforms, and content all matter, but the real work is making sure what you post actually connects.
With algorithms deciding what people see, each platform playing by its own rules, and audiences moving quickly, the organizations that break through are not always doing the most. They are doing the clearest job of showing who they are, why their work matters, and what makes people want to pay attention.

When we first found out we were having a daughter, our friend @JobobTaeleifi told us that “God gives girls to very special men—it takes a very specific type of man to raise strong young girls.”
I’ve never forgotten it, and perhaps no one embodies that biblical masculine strength more than @NickJFreitas.
Thank God for great girl dads… the world needs a whole lot more of them.
This story is wild.
Affair rumors, denials, resignations, old photos resurfacing, and a full 180 right before the NFL Draft. It has everything.
But beyond the headlines, it’s also a textbook example of how clumsy communications can turn a situation into a full-blown crisis. Chelsea breaks down what went wrong and what should have happened instead.

After Sydney Crosby took an embellishment penalty. His first in his career. You gotta love the people looking up at the screen and seeing the embellishment, and then the woman’s expression to Crosby and Crosby’s expression back. This is Class stuff.
Hitting our 10 year anniversary means we’re looking back at some of the early days. Our first office in St. Paul came with a great view of the Cathedral and a set of orange chairs that was impossible to miss.
To put it simply: You need to an online presence and you need to give people good a reason to care/visit/donate/buy.
My latest blog is up! https://t.co/4DZKZeXpjO
“Build it and they will come” used to work.
Today, it’s not enough.
If people don’t see it, understand it, or have a reason to care, they’re not showing up. The organizations seeing results are the ones creating visibility and momentum before the moment ever arrives.
