Once & for all: Unless the victim is white, European, Xtian (& US-Israel friendly), resistance is terrorism, Int’l law doesn’t apply, vetoes apply, refugees have no right to return (& are unwelcome), & the aggressor has the right to self defence & to acquire territory by war.
I've covered so many wars in the Middle East, and the difference in the level of empathy and attention compared to what you see regarding the war in Ukraine really gives one pause.
To my fellow Americans:
I am gathering thoughts on how to best report what's happening. But the first thing that comes to mind is self-reflection. The fear Ukrainians and I have about Russia are the very fears many around the world have felt of U.S. invasions.
As I work through a first-person piece that was due days ago, I cannot help but think that we, as citizens, must redefine what safety means. Just as we are demanding that Russians stand up against Putin, I hope we in America can stand up against our own military overreach.
Waiting for customer service at @HeathrowAirport for two hours now because @British_Airways cancelled our flights until TUESDAY. Baggage has been lost to the void, their customer service line is now blocking our calls. Line has not moved in an hour.
