I used to believe this until I learned that majority of us are steeped in self-righteousness and that is why very few of us make necessary character adjustments. One can be bad by commission or ommission. I am capable of badness: it is this acknowledgement that - in fact - makes one good.

Because it sets the ground for character improvement, which is the foundation for goodness. A sustained effort to do good, not the conviction in our moral superiority. Because even goodness is contextual and one must constantly strive to do good contextually. Goodness is not an absolute endeavour.

While eating cows in one region is an act of goodness, in another it is a defilement of God. You must tread very carefully.
