“It won’t destroy the Republican Party, but it will open up the GOP primary and allow reasonable, traditional Republicans to take back control of their party.”

When so many political groups and organizations agree that open primaries are the way to go, it should make you stop and think. Let’s bring Oregon out of the dark ages, together!
Five former PA governors from both parties: “We are proud to join together in our support for repealing closed primaries. It’s the right thing and the smart thing to do.” @Ballot_PA@OpenPrimaryUSA

@AustinHellerGA Respectfully disagree. She’s a wonderful candidate, but we would argue it is more rooted in the two party apparatus ensuring that their desired candidates are the only ones with a legitimate chance. Similar to how Bernie was widely discredited despite his popularity.
First, Trump was going to save America. But then he said some things some people on his team dislike. So now DeSantis is gonna save America. Truth is, neither of them will. Neither will Biden, or anyone on the left. American is saved by election reform and voting!
Is there 1 Trump supporter that can actually articulate WHY I should vote for him after this past week? He's now said that abortion is "meh" and that "men can be women...ummmm" and affirmed that he still thinks the jab was great. #MAGA help us out. #DeSantis2024 to save America.
Why is there a growing movement to open primaries? It's simple really: Americans want equal voting rights and the right to elect their representatives.
Oregon can't be a true leader in democratic reform until we stop disenfranchising 1.1 million voters. https://t.co/nojFPiVPaQ
How are there people actually defending @laurenboebert? Like… for real? How? Just… how? Sure, people make mistakes, but when your entire shtick is conservative Christian values, and a video like that comes out… you have lost ALL credibility.
The biggest advantage of an open or unified primary is that it requires our elected officials to be accountable for their actions, both personally and politically. Under the current system, there is zero accountability as the party can limit legitimate challenges to their seats.
People can say what they want, but the false claims by both President Biden and Former President Trump are remarkably similar in their attempt to inflate both of their egos. From teaching at U of P to having the largest inauguration crowd ever, both seem to have pretend lives.
@NewToneProducer Of course not. But they might if Trump wins. Multiple states are considering RCV. It’s generally the party in power that dislikes it, and the minority party that supports it. There are some exceptions, but they are rare.
People deserve better, on both sides. Unfortunately our system encourages the worst of the fringe to run, and helps to ensure they win. It’s time for Oregon to open the primary!
Nearly $4.1mil in tax payer funds were used to pay for our closed primaries in 2022. Over 40% of all voters in Oregon are unaffiliated or registered with a 3rd party. What that means is the money spent is being used to directly support the Democratic and Republican parties.
“It is a fundamental view of @Alaskans4BE that primaries should be open to all voters, & that the states — to the extent that it is responsible for elections —should only be in a position to fund elections that are accessible to all”
