For hundreds of years, Jewish people have been the victims of horrific violence. That historic backdrop of pain and trauma does not justify the crushing apartheid policies they’ve imposed on Gaza and the West Bank for over 50 years… but it does help explain it.

For decades the Palestinians have endured daily doses of terror, discrimination and abuse from the State of Israel. That does not by any means justify the violence of Hamas… but it does help explain it.

The current violence of both Hamas and the State of Israel create the conditions for more violence, adding fuel to an already combustible fire.
For many people the evil we are seeing daily by both the State of Israel and Hamas makes more killing justifiable. But violence only leads to more violence. Hatred begets more hatred. We cannot build a better future by killing each other’s families.

Jesus was right - if we live by the sword we die by the sword. Violence is a dead end. Love is the only way forward, even the audacious love for our enemies.

Love requires treating the person on the other side of the wall as nothing short of sacred, a child of God made in the image of God.

Killing babies is terrorism, whether it is done with bombs or with guns or knives - it is evil. Violence is always evil, no matter what flag it’s wrapped up in. Let us continue to work for peace… and do all we can to interrupt the war… and grieve every life lost… and commit ourselves to building a world where every person is sacred.

🚨HOLY SHIT: The Department of Justice just released MORE details about George Santos’ alleged fraud and it is stunning.

Santos’ charges of fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and false statements stem from three
main allegations: Here are the full details:

1) Fraudulent Political Contribution Solicitation Scheme

In September 2022, during his campaign for Congress, Santos allegedly used a limited liability company (Company #1) to defraud political supporters. He directed a political consultant (Person #1) to falsely tell donors that their money would be used to help elect Santos, including purchasing TV ads. Two donors transferred $25,000 each to Company #1, which Santos controlled. Shortly after, the money was transferred to Santos's personal accounts and used for personal expenses, including designer clothing, cash withdrawals, personal debts, and transfers to associates.

2) Unemployment Insurance Fraud Scheme

Santos, while employed at an investment firm earning $120,000 annually, falsely claimed to be unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and fraudulently received over $24,000 in unemployment benefits from June 2020 to April 2021.

3) False Statements to the House of Representatives

Finally, the indictment describes Santos’s alleged efforts to mislead the House of Representatives and the public about his financial condition in connection with each of his two Congressional campaigns.

Santos allegedly embezzled contributions from supporters, fraudulently obtained unemployment benefits, and lied in disclosures to the House of Representatives.

And, the DOJ has RECEIPTS.

“As this indictment reflects, the Department of Justice will hold accountable anyone who engages in such criminality,” they wrote.
