Trig point 270? ✅️🤔 Hornsea.
Replica trig pillars have been constructed, some more convincing than others. These were intended for decoration or novelty value and never used by surveyors. An example can be found at Hornsea, marking the East end of the Transpennine trail
Trig point 269 ✅️ Skirlington, Hornsea. Literally hanging on for dear life to the edge of the cliff. It could soon be gone as the cliff erodes beneath it. Visited July 2025 #allthetrigpoints#Hornsea#trigpillar
Trig Point 265 ✅ – Sheffield Farm, Colne
Built in 1949 for £9 at 338m, this trig is dwarfed by the impressive Walton’s Monument. Its base is an ancient monolith thought to date back to the Dark Ages — history layered on history. Visited July 2025 #allthetrigpoints#trigpillar
Trig Point 264 ✅️
Lower Hill – Colne
Parked on Hill Lane and crossed a stile into a field that leads directly to the trig. The pillar was built in 1949 at a cost of £10.
The pillar stands at 239 m, offering good views across the surrounding area #allthetrigpoints#trigpillar
Trig Point 263 ✅ – Caverley, Cheshire
An easy roadside trig tucked away in a farmer’s field, though slightly elusive thanks to the surrounding overgrowth. Built in February 1940, this pillar proudly stands 65 metres above sea level. Visited in July 2025 #allthetrigpoints#trig
Trig Point 261 ✅️ Hill Top, Dewsbury. Removed in 1990 when developers decided concrete pillars weren’t “on trend.” This 1980s picture shows its glory days. I visited in June, because who doesn’t enjoy a good missing-trig adventure? #allthetrigpoints#maps#history#dewsbury
Explored the awe-inspiring Temple of Apollo in Didim yesterday! 🏛️ The grandeur of those ancient columns and the echoes of history left me speechless. Truly a timeless wonder by the Aegean Sea. 🌊✨ #Didim#TempleOfApollo#AncientHistory#Turkey
@TrigHappyTV We were going to climb it on Sunday, but after seeing the forecast, I switched my holidays with work. Amazing day and very lucky with the weather
