🚨🗣️ | Michael Owen on Matheus Cunha:
"My only question mark is his attitude. He gets sent off a lot, he waves his arms a lot, and you’ve already got someone like that in Bruno Fernandes.”
“Maybe being at United, being at a huge club like that, might put some manners on him.”
United fans don't want £50m midfielder who can't get into Chelsea starting lineup.
But they wanted club to spend £85m on a midfielder who couldn't get into Portugal's World Cup squad.
@mcfraud1 Sure, but it's fair to say it's much harder to start ahead of two £100m midfielders than get into the squad (not start) ahead of Neves, Nunes and Samu Costa. Given Fernandes was already called up in March. Clearly didn't do much to convince Martinez for WC.
Have wondered about this. Here’s my theory: I think it’s sort of the opposite. But it is born, at least in part, in the place you’re talking about. I don’t think it’s love; I think it’s a kind of indifference. By which I mean, it’s like City don’t count and people — who see them (whether rightly or wrongly) as operating on a different plane and with different rules etc — are kind of resigned to them and have reached an acceptance. So, for fans of teams like, say, Liverpool or (even) United (despite being rivals in Manchester), if City win the league: shrug, yeah, whatever, what you gonna do? If this year Arsenal or in previous years Liverpool win the league — who you are competing with on the same level, who are your peers/challengers, for want of a better word, whose title win would be as good as yours would have been — it actually does hurt and it does mean something. It’s a “real” title win…and thus, by extension, a real title loss for your team. And I suspect that goes beyond just fans of those teams too to become more generalized. I know, I know, plenty of people will really dislike this, from both sides of the argument, and I might have to hide from the @s now as they all shout at me, but it’s about people’s perceptions and I reckon there’s something in that.
Anyway, sorry: a long tweet. Just a theory.
With 31 points in 31 games (-13 goal difference) since Ruben Amorim took charge, no non-relegated team has performed worse than Manchester United in the Premier League.
Berrada and Wilcox should be sacked for still keeping him at the helm.
- David Moyes at Man United in PL: 34 games, 17 wins
- Ruben Amorim at Man United in PL: 29 games, 7 wins
Even if Amorim wins next 5 games on the bounce (he is yet to win back-to-back PL games), his record will still be worse than Moyes.
Pogba got 4 assists in a match and became one of the only 7 players ever to do so but Graeme Souness said he expects that from a €100m player.
Can't wait to know what he expects from €150m player Florian Wirtz.
Bruno Fernandes is the best number 10 in the world. Amorim is instead shoehorning him into his system as an 8. He doesn't have the temperament and defensive awareness to play that role.
Elite managers are supposed to get the best out of their top players. Ruben Amorim turned his best player into a problem and a promising talent like Mainoo into a bench player.
This 11 means Utd are going to be pinned in their own box for most of the game
How do they escape Arsenal’s press? Mbuemo + Cunha in behind or a bit of quality for them to break the press….not reliable
Forced to go direct with no target man, the ball will just keep coming back
Manchester United's best players against Arsenal were Mount, Cunha, Mbeumo, and Fernandes.
However, all four are best suited to playing as attacking midfielders. Fernandes isn't an 8 and Mount won't be playing as 9 after Sesko. Tricky situation for Amorim.

Against PSG, Marcus Rashford created more chances (4), completed more dribbles (4) & created more big chances (2) than any other player on the pitch. And a simply phenomenal assist too.
His best performance of the season🫡
Manchester United have now lost more Premier League games since Sir Alex Ferguson retired than during his time in charge.
Under Sir Alex: 810 games ◉ 114 defeats
Since Sir Alex left: 450 games ◎ 115 defeats
