@MaryWBousted@michaelgove It is a continual cycle of decline. No expansion of special schools so more children go to independent special schools so no money for investment in special schools. As a comparison funding for LA special school 18k to 25k compared to 80k to 150000k for an independent school.
@Headteacherchat If you are an LA maintained school will need to involve the LA HR as well as your own and unions. Your new JDs will need to be compared with JDs of the same grade in different jobs to ensure equality of skills and tasks for the same pay.
@susie_dent My daughter has her English Language alevel paper 2 tomorrow. She says you can't have the 'mubble fubbles' if you say the phrase 'mubble fubbles'! π€£
@NickyMountford@DrNeenaJha Sorry, I need to disagree. Teachers get much more 'bashing' by press and public than any other profession and have done for years!
@SimonKnight100 @StuartLock Only 80, I am well over 100. However 98% of these are appropriate but I have no space. I am also consulted by neighbouring LAs. My issue is why consult me when I am not parent preference and/or there is no chance of the child ever coming to my school.
@ianaddison My school and at least one other school in Manchester advertising for mps / ups teachers. Special schools in Manchester. Check out dfe vacancy site or TES.
@SimonKnight100 Our families are disproportionately affected by childcare problems. Many have to give up work, sometimes both parents. I would love to help my families with 'wraparound care' but calculated the cost would be at least Β£25 an hour! Just not affordable.
@CensoredHead Sorry but I did! I didn't think you personally meant it but we are still not far enough into equal rights to not. I have been asked so many times 'aren't you missing out' and my female staff still bear the brunt of childcare; partners or employers don't think it is a man's role.
@secretHT1@MrARawlings I am, and yes it is a challenge! π€£ It is a special school, so much smaller than mainstream. We follow a primary model and are now taking a lot more yr 7 pupils who are not able to/don't feel they can make the transition to secondary school.
