When 45% of women in a county have experienced gender-based violence, intervention is not optional, it is urgent.

Over the past 4 years in Kilifi, our #EndGBV programme, supported by @FinlandinKenya, has focused on strengthening systems, shifting norms and improving access to support.

Across Bungoma, Kilifi, and Samburu, this programme has delivered measurable impact:

15,000 people reached
10,000+ households engaged
20 health facilities strengthened
100+ health workers trained

Today marks the close of the project, not the end of the work.

Persons with disabilities are running businesses through village savings and loan associations, driving economic empowerment at community level.

With support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Kenya Red Cross is working with communities to prevent GBV and protect lives.

From Feb 23–28, I joined RCATs from 6 coastal counties in Garsen for intensive shelter training. We covered emergency shelter, protection, camp coordination & more—boosting our capacity to respond to flood-related displacements.

On Friday @KenyaRedCross Kilifi Branch successfully planted 60 seedlings to mark 60 years of KRCS's dedicated services to humanity with @kenyaprisons at Malindi Main Prison.
The team also provided Mental Health talk sessions and a Medical Outreach to the inmates.

I had the privilege of being part of the implementation team that worked to support 180 farmers in Kilifi with essential seeds, training and ongoing follow-ups to recover from last year's floods.
Disaster response is more than just relief- it's about long-term resilience.

180 farmers in Kilifi are rebuilding their livelihoods after last year’s floods, thanks to support from the @BritishRedCross.

They received essential seeds—maize, green grams, sorghum and millet—along with training on improved farming practices.

With ongoing follow-ups from agricultural officers, these farmers are not just recovering but building resilience for the future.
