Ceftriaxone injection should not be used with any calcium containing IV fluids (such as Ringer or Hartmann's solution). Mixing Ceftriaxone with these solutions can result in the formation of dangerous foam white precipitate, which may be threatening for the patient.
This risk is particularly high in neonates.

Ceftriaxone should only be used with:

Dextrose 2.5%
Dextrose 5%
Dextrose 10%
NS (Sodium Chloride 0.9%)
