On a packed train with my family. Couple across the aisle both alternatively playing social media videos on speakers at full volume. Managed not to say anything until the woman started playing a documentary about serial killers. I'm here with my daughter.
I politely said "please could you turn it down it's not appropriate." To which she replied "I'm sure she's heard worse at school." I said that really wasn't her call to make and in general could she please reduce the volume.
Her response "Its a public train for heavens sake".
For me that's exactly why it is anti social (and what headphones were invented for). I'm wondering which one of us is out of kilter on this?
Ps I should note she did thankfully reduce the volume and we all left it there.
During the 1993/94 season, Mark Bosnich saved an incredible EIGHT penalties.
33 years ago today, he stopped the first of those from Birmingham’s John Frain.
So here are all of @TheRealBozza’s spot-kick saves from that campaign, in order.
What a keeper!
Aston Villa can confirm that Emi Martínez has completed a permanent transfer to Chelsea.
Emi joined the club from Arsenal in 2020 and has been a commanding presence in goal throughout his time at the club, which culminated in him helping Villa win the UEFA Europa League in May.
He earned his first international caps while at Aston Villa, going on to win two Copa América titles and a FIFA World Cup with Argentina.
He was also twice named the world's number one goalkeeper, picking up successive Yashin Trophies in 2023 and 2024 as well as two The Best FIFA Football awards.
With his stellar performances and infectious competitive nature, Emi will always be remembered for his part in our recent journey and success and leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.
Do you know when you watch a TV series you didn’t expect to enjoy, but it gradually grows on you, and by the end, you’re loving it?
Then comes the second series. A few key characters have changed. Your first reaction is: “Hmm… I’m not sure. I was used to the others.”
But you give it time. Because the storytelling is still in the hands of the same writer.
That’s how I see this new Aston Villa under Unai Emery. There are question marks, of course, and some new characters will take time to grow on you. But after what the previous “series” achieved, perhaps those question marks should be met less with apprehension and more with curiosity.
We know the storyteller. We know what he’s capable of. So give it time. Enjoy the ride, the new memories. And let’s see where this series takes us.
Aston Villa can confirm that Ezri Konsa has completed a permanent transfer to Arsenal.
Ezri was signed from Brentford in 2019 and went on to make 286 appearances, scoring 12 goals, with the highlight of his time at Villa coming in May when he helped the club win the UEFA Europa League.
He has also become a regular international for England, playing in every game of the Three Lions' 2026 FIFA World Cup run to the semi-final.
A universally popular and highly-respected figure in both the dressing room and around the training ground, as well as an approachable role model for the club's academy players, Ezri leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.
Go for it and lose I’d rather put up with that, than score a goal and park the bus it has never worked. In 66 we were 3-2 up could have parked the bus but Mr Hirst decided to go for it and we scored another. Opportunity missed. The Germans have Kloop now and Portugal have no CR7!
