I was a super proud recipient of this scholarship back in 2015 and my PhD days at Black Dog were some of the best of my life. Such an amazing opportunity for anyone interested in the youth suicide space! ππ½

Big congratulations to @HM_Christensen for this award - most meritorious lifetime contributions to knowledge and society. One of a kind scientist and innovator!πππ
Come join my research team! Iβm recruiting for a 2 yr full time postdoc in digital mental health interventions and anxiety to work at @unsw and @blackdoginst. Apps close 13 July. Please retweet to your networks! https://t.co/lwnpLBpHBa
@zacseidler Super keen to chat with you more about this at the conference next week, Zac! Actively and continually building self-support resources and this kind of info is vital in informing what we prioritise. Excited to connect and pick your brain!
SO proud to be a part of the amazing team at @LifelineAust! We launched the Support Toolkit this week - an accessible collection of self-support tools providing evidence-based info & resources to help seekers far & wide - driven by lived/living experience! https://t.co/2iZuqam3wp

@hm_christensen and @blackdoginst develop e-Mental health technology to promote mental health in schools and expand access to digital treatments that augment conventional care.
Such inovation is critical to address the gaps in mental health care.

@Taylor_Braund Tbh, the 48% is more than I thought! The system needs a massive shake up, in many ways. Agree the grass ainβt as green on the other side as we may anticipate, but doesnβt alter the need for a shake up in academia (as noted by you TB - funding a huge problem, but not the only one)
These stats are so heartbreaking. Stigma around mental illness is still rife BUT education helps. There is no better education than walking someone into an experience that may otherwise be foreign to them. This can elicit connection. Lived experience can & should be utilised here
The harsh reality behind latest bid to address mental health stigma, discrimination https://t.co/85G2S1IwV1 No wonder mental health care and research simply cannot get a fair go or a proportional share of resources and talent @AlboMP@Mark_Butler_MP@nhmrc@SMHR@au4mentalhealth
@hodsonsteph1@blackdoginst Thank you for sharing @hodsonsteph1 - I'm so pleased it was helpful... sometimes the 'little' things are the big things, hey? <3
Watching the #BDIsummit online from our @blackdoginst office today and am incredibly proud to see this 'Event Wellbeing Guide' pop up from a delegate who is in physical attendance. Agency and respect for peoples' experiences can absolutely co-exist with safety and care.
That was a cracking presentation by @DrAmyChandler - people with lived experience need to be heard, believed and their knowledge acted upon. We have moved here in Australia but still very open to tokenism and to including only βsomeβ voices. #BDISummit
The incredible @melanieanneball beautifully acknowledges @FionaShand1 as an ally re: her respect of the knowledge, abilities & attributes of LE experts in her work, and Fiona graciously responds - βI am still learning - we are always learningβ. You are great, Fiona π₯Ή#bdisummit
"Who decides what the markers of a successful intervention are?". Important question from @DrAmyChandler re: the (largely missing yet vitally important) role of #livedexperience in evaluating interventions designed to address self-harm #BDIsummit
Qualitative inquiry lacks, yet is imperative in understanding self harm in young people. The numbers tell us rates are rising and giving young people a safe space to speak to their experiences can help us to understand why. #BDISummit@blackdoginst
Why is there this higher rate of self harm in young people? Lots of speculation but @DrAmyChandler makes an excellent point - why are we not just asking the young people who are affected to answer this question? Clearly that's the way forward here #BDIsummit
@LivveyKirtley @BosseSander @FionaShand1@blackdoginst So wonderful to bump into you, Liv. Made my week π Enjoy the summit!m (and Melbourne post summit)!!
