Children’s empathy is a bit silly sometimes. I gave up on my love for art bc my brother loved it so deeply and I didn’t want to steal ‘his thing’. It’s stupid in hindsight bc he def would have loved to draw together but instead I’m approaching 30 bereaved bc I loved my brother.
For Asuka, I tried to express a kind of quiet madness by letting her naturally resonate with Eva Unit-02, not only visually but psychologically, as if the two were silently linked.
For Denji, I focused on a more dynamic kind of madness—one driven by his own desire for change. I also leaned heavily into flat, street-art-inspired colors, and I think it gave the piece a raw, violent energy.
It’s so absurd that after child birth women are expected to get up and lug their newborn to a pediatrician a week later while still recovering and most likely experiencing severe pain while walking. Why can’t doctors do a house call for this if it’s soooooo fucking important to weigh that baby
During the filming of The Lord of the Rings, someone asked why the night scenes were being lit. "It's supposed to be dark," they said. "Where is all this light coming from?"
The cinematographer replied, "The same place the music in that scene comes from."
Yes. I read it as a child. Because it’s a children’s book.
We keep lowering standards for children’s media and then wonder why kids can’t read or grasp complex concepts.
Running into words you don’t know is part of the learning experience. Not an insurmountable obstacle.
@VT5210 Being killed by an axe murderer is straightforward, digestible, & expeditious. It brings catharsis to the victim, an element lacking from zoomer daily life. To understand gen Z horror is to understand the labryinthinian, perennial, & formless anxieties of the modern age.
@sophieisawitch Its not just WRT learned helplessness. People generally are extremely unsympathetic towards abuse victims, except they mask that lack of sympathy by performatively showing how much they hate abuse instead.
