Statement by ALM Afghanistan
Iran's decision to invite both the Taliban and representatives of the Resistance Front to the funeral ceremony can be interpreted as more than a diplomatic gesture. In our assessment, it also carries a political message.
First, Iran may be signaling to the Taliban that if they align too closely with the interests of the United States or act against Iran's strategic interests—including on critical issues such as shared water resources—Iran has the capacity to engage with and potentially support other Afghan actors.
Second, Iran has, for decades, pursued a regional strategy that has included supporting proxy groups in different countries to expand its influence and create leverage in regional conflicts. This pattern has contributed to instability and prolonged tensions across the region.
ALM Afghanistan firmly believes that Afghanistan's future must be based on national sovereignty, independence, and the interests of its people. We reject the use of proxy groups by any foreign country, whether Iran, Pakistan, or any other state. Afghanistan should never again become an arena for regional rivalries or external interference.

Statement by ALM on the European Commission
23 June 2026
Normalizing a terrorist group merely because Germany and Europe is unwilling to keep a few foreign criminals in prison is unacceptable. It is a betrayal of the principles, values, and human rights that Europe has long claimed to defend. More dangerously, it risks legitimizing tyranny, terrorism, gender apartheid, and crimes against humanity.
As the elected leader of ALM, I ask the European Commission and European governments: Have you already forgotten the Doha Agreement signed in Qatar? That agreement paved the way for the Taliban's return to power and handed them the freedom to impose one of the world's most repressive regimes.
Since taking control, the Taliban have systematically stripped women and girls of their rights, banned them from education, employment, and public life, silenced independent voices, persecuted minorities, crushed political opposition, and ruled through fear and intimidation. The Afghan people, especially women, have paid the price for the international community's failure to hold the Taliban accountable.
At the same time, the Taliban have failed to demonstrate any genuine commitment to human rights, democracy, or international norms. Serious concerns remain regarding the presence and activities of extremist and terrorist networks operating from Afghan territory. Yet instead of demanding accountability, some European leaders now appear willing to move toward engagement and normalization.
This latest welcome sends a dangerous message: that terrorism can be rewarded, that oppression can be overlooked, and that those responsible for dismantling the rights of millions can eventually gain international acceptance.
If Europe chooses convenience over principle, it will not strengthen security—it will weaken its moral authority and abandon those who continue to suffer under Taliban rule.
ALM firmly rejects any effort to normalize, legitimize, or politically rehabilitate a regime that continues to deny basic human rights and freedoms. Europe must stand with victims of oppression, not with those who impose it.
History will judge not only the actions of tyrants, but also the silence and accommodation of those who chose to engage with them.
We will continue with full power our Armed fight against Terrorist Taliban until the last Armed Talib get eliminated.

ALM Press Statement
Date:17.06.2026
Subject: The Ban on Smartphones and Continued Restrictions Against Afghan Women and Youth
The Afghanistan Liberation Movement (ALM) strongly condemns the Taliban's continued campaign of restrictions against the people of Afghanistan, including recent measures limiting access to smartphones, information, education, and communication. These policies represent another step in the systematic isolation of Afghan society, particularly women and young people, from knowledge, opportunity, and engagement with the modern world.
ALM believes that such actions serve neither the interests of Afghanistan nor its future generations. The Afghan people deserve access to education, technology, information, and the freedom to communicate and connect with the world. Attempts to restrict these fundamental freedoms reveal a deep fear of an informed and empowered population.
We are deeply concerned that regional actors and foreign interests continue to pursue policies that prioritize political influence over the well-being and aspirations of the Afghan people. Afghanistan must never again become a battleground for external agendas that seek to keep its citizens divided, dependent, or disconnected from global progress.
The history of Afghanistan also contains painful lessons. Millions of Afghans were left without a meaningful voice in decisions that shaped their future. The Doha negotiations and subsequent developments left many Afghans feeling abandoned by international actors who claimed to support democracy, human rights, and freedom. The consequences of those decisions continue to be felt across the country today.
We are equally concerned by international engagement that fails to hold the Taliban accountable for their record of repression, restrictions on women, attacks on civil liberties, and violations of fundamental rights. Diplomatic engagement must never come at the expense of the Afghan people's demand for justice, dignity, and freedom.
No authority can silence an entire nation forever. The voices of Afghan women, students, workers, intellectuals, and young people will continue to be heard. History has repeatedly shown that governments built on fear, censorship, and coercion cannot indefinitely suppress the aspirations of their people.
ALM stands with all Afghans who seek a peaceful, free, and prosperous future. We reaffirm our commitment to defending the rights of every Afghan citizen and to advocating for an Afghanistan founded on justice, equality, education, and national dignity.
Long Live the Resistance for Freedom, Justice, and Human Dignity.
