Tiap abis war Jakarta Film Week pasti banyak yang ngeluh. Dan keluhan itu berulang tiap tahun.

Menurutku sumber keluhan itu bisa jadi karena panitia tidak transparan soal alokasi tiket tiap film/event. Harusnya sih dari awal langsung dikasih tahu misalnya yang tersedia cuma 100 tiket dari 250 seat. Artinya ada 150 tiket mungkin buat jatah ordal.

Transparansi adalah keharusan karena Jakarta Film Week dikelola menggunakan dana dari pemerintah. Dana dari pajak yang kita bayar sebagai pemegang KTP Jakarta.

Add that with miniseries Gadis Kretek (Cigarette Girl), and two mid-length films, Sendiri Diana Sendiri (Following Diana), dan Memoria.

Kamila Andini carves her singular place with strong, focused filmography that seems to be impossible to achieve, especially in an industry that often demands frequency, rather than artistry. She not only resides in merely presenting the theme of empowerment in all her works, which itself is laudable, but we can see the progress in filmmaking in every film she has made.

Empat Musim Pertiwi (Four Seasons in Java) is a strong film, there’s no other way in describing the power the film holds as we are glued to the screen. We may be overwhelmed by the currents of the narrative presented on screen, and yet, Kamila Andini steers the film with patience and delicateness into a towering work of art. It’s a serious and unmissable film.

Having seen some of the official submissions for Best International Feature in Academy Awards next year, I’d say that Empat Musim Pertiwi (Four Seasons in Java) is one of the strongest.
