Thank you Ben for your work in disability and human rights. Of particular importance has been you highlighting the barriers and challenges experienced by disabled people during the pandemic. Best wishes for your new role.
Dr Ben Gauntlett ends his term as Disability Discrimination Commissioner this month. In the role, he has advocated tirelessly for the rights of the 4.4 million people in Australia who have a disability. What's the most important thing he has learnt in his time as Commissioner?
Vale John Moxon who passed away last night. A powerful advocate in the disability space, a balanced provider of advice and a lovely bloke. My sympathies to Margaret and his family.
Let me try and explain to you why your autistic child spends so much time in their room in front of that damned computer.
Its because it’s safe. It’s because they have control over that space like in no other part of their life.
A MOTHERFUCKING THREAD.
New technology should make our world more inclusive for people with disability. @BenGauntlettDDC & I will discuss how to realise this vision with:
* UN disability expert @RosemaryKayess
* Blind Citizens Aust CEO @ebennison
* Telstra's Sean Murphy.

Vale Sue Salthouse. She will be remembered as a passionate advocate for people with disabilty. And a warm, generous and giving person. Gone too early 😢

We send our sincerest condolences to her family and friends and ask that their privacy is respected during this time.
My copy of Being Heumann arrived today. I look forward to reading this memoir by trail-blazing @judithheumann on her amazing life as a disability rights activist from the streets of Brooklyn!
