They don’t migrate. All their life is lived in their region. There are other reasons but this is the major one.

Tribalism aside but Yorubas are the most geographically inept tribe in Nigeria. I see them struggle with these things constantly and make some bone-headed remarks online. I also see many Yorubas confusing tribes and geopolitical zones. I can’t count how many times I have seen “they’re not Ibos, they’re South-South” or “leave Niger-Delta alone, they’re not Ibos” or other statements alike.

It’s just pattern recognition from the same group as if Google searches don’t exist in 2026. That’s why newsprint owned by them made so many mistakes in the past without fact-checking. Do they not know Abia, Imo, Delta and Rivers states are all part of the Niger-Delta? All these states have significant indigenous Igbo populations.

This is just my observation after having interacted online for years and read many posts even in the early years of Nairaland. Why do they keep making these mistakes? This is constructive criticism and I feel as though this matter needs to be addressed so don’t comment with any tribalistic insults or rude comments. I make regular observations about different tribes and ethnicities.
