We can build a world where automation expands stake, agency, and participation.

Or we can build New Rome:
a concentrated elite, a pacified mass, and a civilization stupid enough to call that progress.

A collapsed world, a witness from the ruins, and one ugly possibility:
maybe humanity doesn’t destroy itself in one grand explosion.
