With great sorrow I am following the tragic news coming from #Sudan. Indiscriminate violence against women and children, attacks on unarmed civilians, and serious obstacles to humanitarian aid are causing unbearable suffering. May we #PrayTogether that the Lord may receive the deceased with his embrace, strengthen those who are suffering, and move the hearts of those responsible. I renew my heartfelt appeal to all parties involved to agree to a ceasefire and to urgently open humanitarian corridors. Finally, I call on the international community to act with determination and generosity.
What’s happening in El Fasher, Sudan, is pure horror. It’s not war—it’s terror. Innocent people are being killed, hospitals are being attacked, and children are being starved. The world must not look away. We must demand a ceasefire, access to aid, and justice, now.
Statement: CJPME is urging Canada to halt the export of military goods to the United Arab Emirates amid concerns that it may be diverting Canadian weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries in Sudan.
The UAE, a destination for millions of dollars in Canadian weapons, is known to be illicitly arming the RSF as it commits genocide.
Canadian weapons linked to the UAE have been discovered to be used by the RSF, specifically in El Fasher, where the group recently massacred over 2,000 people.
"[Civilians] were killed without mercy."

"If either President Trump or Joe Biden had been willing to name and shame the Emirates, I suspect it would have backed off." This sentiment is why the global human rights movement is basically dead. https://t.co/jpSr4yKtvB
There is evidence the UAE backed RSF is engaged in mass murder in El-Fashar in Darfur.
Why is the U.S. allowing the UAE - which we fund militarily - help the brutal RSF engage in mass atrocity?
FYI - this isn't just about Trump - the Biden Admin was letting this happen too.
"As the survivors of an over 500-day long siege in el-Fasher try desperately to survive the slaughter that has been brought to their door, remember this: the UAE got away with it because they have unlimited cash"

"We saw many dead bodies lying on the ground and wounded people left behind in the open because their families couldn’t carry them."

“AU’s strongest stance on El Fasher in a decade. Rapid Support Forces must be stopped across Central & East Africa. Anyone aiding them is complicit in these crimes.”
As an obstetrician, I join my voice to those expressing outrage at the massacre of 460 patients and healthcare workers at a maternity hospital in El-Fasher, a major city in North Darfur that has been besieged for nearly a year and a half and is now controlled by paramilitaries.
We strongly condemn all attacks targeting hospitals and healthcare facilities in armed conflicts. The world cannot remain blind, silent, and passive to the suffering and atrocities endured by civilians in Sudan.
We urge states and all actors with influence over this forgotten conflict and neglected crisis to act without delay to call for de-escalation, silence the guns, protect civilians, facilitate access to humanitarian aid, and end impunity for the most serious crimes.

450+ patients and their families killed in the Saudi maternity hospital in El Fasher. Each day brings new, more shocking revelations. More shocking is the utter lack of serious international effort to stop/slow/condemn what is happening before our eyes.https://t.co/EftbSOCEY0
The Government of the Republic of South Africa welcomes the emergency meeting convened by the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC) concerning the gravely worsening situation in the Republic of Sudan. The decisive intervention of the African Union at this critical juncture is a paramount imperative for restoring peace and stability.
The South African government firmly calls upon the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to immediately and unconditionally:
Implement an immediate and verifiable cessation of hostilities.
Adhere strictly to their obligations under IHL and IHRL, including protecting medical personnel and allowing safe passage for those seeking refuge.
Ensure rapid, safe, and unhindered humanitarian access to all affected populations across Sudan.
We call upon all external actors and countries involved in this crisis to adhere to international law. This entails moving away from any form of supporting, supplying, or enabling the armed belligerents. South Africa stands ready to support a credible, inclusive process that would lead to a justice peace leading the re-establishment of civilian-led political transition. The sovereignty and will of the Sudanese people for a democratic future must be respected.
