Indian Composer and Singer Salim Merchant talked about grammys situation & said he was not surprised at all to learn of the BTS decision as RA has always been an American institution serving American artistes first & everyone else eventually gets funnelled into a smaller room.
I applaud @bts_bighit for rejecting the Recording Academy's attempt to shove them into a category for the Grammys.
The Grammys wanted to label BTS as "Asian pop." They said, No thanks. We're not 'Asian music.' We're pop. Put us in the main category.
GOOD. Enough with all the groups, labels, and categories. That's what caused all the controversy around The Odyssey. They had to check the Academy's boxes to be considered for an Oscar. These organizations can keep their awards if it means bowing to a system that puts arbitrary limits on artists.

Arirang by BTS is on pace to become the best selling kpop album globally of all time, currently at 12.5M units (according to chartmasters).
They are projected to surpass their own album, Be (14.8M).
Something that ceo fails to understand is that BTS has been in this music industry for more than a decade they are not stupid they knows exactly what he and his committee is doing, they cannot answer why the category exists in the first place because its made to segregate asian acts especially on the outside of the US industry, now we move for BTS.
Taehyung's scarf and Jungkook's jacket from their FIFA World Cup halftime performance is now sold out for $46,2k each.
All proceeds from the auction will go to charity.
BTS are—and will remain—the only ones with the courage to make such a decision. After years of the Grammys benefiting from their global impact, responding by creating a separate category only highlights the treatment they have received. Their decision not to submit what many consider their best album speaks to principles, dignity, and a refusal to settle for half-hearted recognition.
