@joececiyyc Grateful for more teachers. However what about Supporter Workers? Will you hire more? Will you have the provincial mandate removed so we can bargain for better wages? As we have not had a raise in 10 years and zeros are awful.#properpay#wearpurple#endthemandate#nomorezeros
Did you know that CUPE Support Staff all across Alberta are wearing purple to demand better pay and asking to remove the 0% mandate implemented by our government! We have had enough!!#properpay#wearpurple#CUPE#weareimportant
I have said this so many times, to parents, grandparents and teachers. Thank you @haleshannon for such great graphic novels to choose from. My middle school students love them.
According to police, Kyleen Annette Hunter, 16, was last seen at a residence in Morley (Mînî Thnî) approximately one week ago and has not been heard from since Jan. 25. https://t.co/OITzAtPd5B
Canmore RCMP said in a media release that 14-year-old Kieran Leonard Stevenson was last seen in Canmore on Sunday (Oct. 16) at 7:30 p.m. https://t.co/hT0L889YDJ
@1DeLorenzi@lieberrian I also have only 22.5hrs/wk to research, order and catalog all the books. Doing this while having 17 classes come in for a weekly library time.
@1DeLorenzi@lieberrian We are technically school Library Technicians and get paid accordingly, approximately the same as an Educational Assistant. I feel highly valued and supported in my role. Although I do not “teach” library, I do support kids reading and help them learn how to find what they need.
@BakerChair Our parent council donated funds to our school library to increase our diversity and inclusion books. Here is the display I’ve had up since the beginning of May with some of the new and old books with Pride characters or theme. I am super proud of the support I get in my school.
Introducing Teddy : a gentle story about gender and friendship by Jessica Walton
Queer heroes : meet 53 LGBTQ heroes from past & present! by Arabelle Sicardi
Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
I am super proud that my school (Lawrence Grassi Middle School) has supported me in increasing the number of Pride related books in our library. We are now up to 49 books cataloged and more are on the way.
These are a few of my favourites so far:
47,000 Beads by Koja Adeyoha (2 spirit)
The Pronoun Book: She, He, They and Me! by Cassandra Jules Corrigan
It feels good to be yourself : a book about gender identity by Theresa Thorn
Red : a crayon's story by Michael Hall.
Oh and because March 1 (1st Tues of month) is discount day at many grocery stores, don't worry about "bad vibes" amongst the crowded masses tomorrow....
