Charles's entire interview with F1TV post practice sessions:
Q-It looked like a strong day for the team and a strong day for you too...
"Yeah, it was a relatively strong day from the beginning. I felt quite good with the car and the performance seemed to be good from straight away. So that's a good thing. But the weekend is still long. From the Friday to the Saturday, we see teams making a jump of performance. Normally, we are on the back foot on the Friday, so it's a good thing that we have a good Friday. We still need to stay on it and work hard in order to get better for tomorrow."
Q-I think Lewis had an extra lap on you and replaced you at the top. Qualifying is very, very important here. You've got a bit of a buffer at the moment. Do you sense that'll get tighter tomorrow?
"It's going to be tight tomorrow, as always. I don't expect us to be having the gap that we've had today. So we'll have to do everything perfect. But if the feeling is there, I'm sure we'll do a good job in Q3."
charles says that, if ferrari doesn't win the championship, he hopes kimi wins it:
"do you think ferrari can contend for the championship? and do you still hold the view that if ferrari doesn't win, you'd want Kimi to take it?
🆑: the championship is still a long way from over. I hope we reach the final race fighting kimi for the title, but before that, as i said, we need to demonstrate that the feeling is right, not just at silverstone, but across multiple races. i’m confident that will happen, though i’m not thinking about the championship just yet. (and what if ferrari doesn't win? kimi, or...) sure. no, absolutely. why not? he’s a really great guy, you can tell.i think he reminds us all, i sound like an old man saying this, but he reminds me of my own early years when you first arrive in f1. you have that authenticity, you’re discovering the world... it’s a beautiful thing. you can see it in kimi’s eyes, he’s so happy to be here, and i’m happy for him. so, certainly, if ferrari doesn't win... then kimi, that would be wonderful. it would be a great story.
ONE WEEK AGO today, charles won in silverstone after a sequence of tough weekends for him ❤️
"charles leclerc could’ve won in 2021, he should’ve won in 2022. he will finally climb to the top step"
