I’m sharing this because we survived a very scary incident, and it made me realize how unsafe Kampala is.

It is now extremely risky moving at night whether on a boda or in a car. There is an increasing pattern of thugs moving in groups on Bodas, some armed with pangas. They use tactics like surrounding your car , one boda in front and another behind forcing you to stop. The moment you step out to check what’s happening, they attack, beat you, and rob you of everything. In some cases, when you try to resist or fight back they can kill you.

Others stage fake accidents. You may find a boda lying in the middle of the road with people pretending there’s been an accident. When you stop and step out to help or see what happened, that’s when they attack.

I thank God we survived, but it could have gone very differently. Please don’t ignore this warning.

Kindly:
•Do not step out of your car in isolated areas.
•Keep your doors locked and windows up at all times.
•If something feels suspicious, drive to a well lit, busy place or the nearest police station.
•Always trust your instincts.

Your life is more important than anything. Let’s stay vigilant and protect ourselves. 🙏🏾
