This is some pretty lazy moralizing dressed up as social commentary.

The laziest part is still that whole “business families are just little kings running pointless empires with zero innovation or vision” bit, and how they’re all obsessed with obedient kids and flashy weddings.

It’s especially rich coming from someone whose books have been called formulaic for years, and who’s basically spent two decades riding the celebrity author thing while not really bringing anything new to the table. Maybe glance in the mirror before lecturing everyone else about originality.

And the “non-innovative little kings” take is just outdated at this point. A lot of these families - in pharma, manufacturing, D2C, fintech, real estate - are actually professionalizing. The next generation is studying abroad, working real jobs, building new things, and trying to fix or grow what their parents built. It’s not the stagnant picture you’re painting.

Also, the scale doesn’t even make sense. By your own definition, you’re talking about a few thousand families, maybe a couple of lakh people max, in a country of 1.4 billion. You can’t spin one Pune case into some big civilizational sermon about why India is “backward.”

It’s obvious you’re just using the story because it got attention.And let’s be honest — this whole thing feels tailor-made to get nods from people who are either jealous of Gen Z kids from rich families, or feel some kind of way about wealthy families in general (sometimes even the families themselves). Easy way to farm agreement without having to actually understand how these businesses or families actually work these days.
