10 years ago, in the summer of 2015, three of us were sitting in a pub near Hays Galleria by the Thames in London. We were talking about ChromeOS, laptops, and why good things were still so hard to access for people in the UK and across Europe. We believed ChromeOS was good. We believed it could be the future of computing. And we believed it deserved to be more open and accessible.
That afternoon became an idea. That idea became FydeOS.
10 years on, that belief has not changed. It still feels surreal to say this, but FydeOS has grown from a pub conversation into something that now runs on millions of devices worldwide. Along the way, we built and shipped Fydetab Duo and the XpressReal SBCs. They came with delays and setbacks, but they were always part of that original dream. In many ways, they still are.
2025 was another important year for us. We shipped 2 milestone FydeOS releases and crossed over 2M downloads in total. Our Enterprise offering grew faster than expected, with sign-ups up more than 300%. We also launched a revamped kiosk mode and FydeSign, helping small businesses and schools manage FydeOS devices with far less friction. Seeing FydeOS used in classrooms, shops, and workplaces remains one of the most rewarding parts of our work.
At the same time, 2025 was the year everything began changing at an incredible pace. AI is no longer happening on the sidelines. It is reshaping computing and most other things in the tech arena in real time. Google has made its move, and we have all seen it. Whilst we believe ChromeOS and FydeOS are here to stay, it is clear we need our own answer to a bigger question: how should AI truly fit into an operating system? - Not as a checkbox feature. Not as just another chatbot window. But as something more fundamental.
That question led us back to the most fundamental component of FydeOS: THE BROWSER. With 10 years of experience building on Chromium, we started working on something new.
Today, we are introducing Phi Browser.
Phi Browser is, first and foremost, a browser. A solid, Chromium-based browser that just works, with the performance, compatibility, and productivity features you expect and enjoy. But it is also where we believe AI belongs.
We believe your conversations, the browser memories, and everything an AI learns about you should belong to you. They should live locally, be visible to you, and stay fully under your control. You should be free to choose your AI providers, and switch between them without losing yourself along the way.
Our goal is for Phi Browser to be your companion. One that understands context, remembers what matters, and helps you get things done without constant prompts. An AI that is proactive and genuinely useful, not something that tries to do everything and does none of it well.
With our background in tinkering OS, we are designing Phi Browser to use local LLM models wherever possible. Your data will always be yours. We will guard it carefully, and it will never be used to train AI. Trust is not a feature. It is the foundation.
Phi Browser will be available as a standalone desktop app on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It will also integrate more deeply with FydeOS, enabling lower-level interactions that are simply not possible elsewhere. Looking ahead, Phi Browser will have its own dedicated hardware with on-device NPU to power the AI, because that is how we believe trust should be built.
Phi Browser is currently in internal alpha testing. Our first public builds will be available on macOS with Apple Silicon, with more platforms coming over time. If you have a Mac and are curious, I would genuinely love to have you try it.
You can register your interest at https://t.co/avtYk7iE5T. If you want to try it sooner, follow @phibrowser on X and retweet the latest post, our team will send you an invitation code shortly after.
Looking back, I hope FydeOS has been helpful to you in some way. If it has, then the effort of the past ten years has been worth it. We are here to stay. FydeOS is here to stay. And now, Phi is joining us too.
Wishing you a fantastic year ahead ✨
Introducing Claude Fable 5: a Mythos-class model that we’ve made safe for general use.
Its capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available.
i think i am the only one thinks the new Ferrari Luce looks good, i love things blend with nostalgic and futuristic vibes together in a glass jar with both hands
@EHuanglu you can't swallow that lump of rice in 3 chews, and no sane oriental person eats like that. it's debatable if AI has soul, but this video is 100% soulless. it's good effort comparing to will smith vs spaghetti, but nothing compares to a broken iphone shot at a real person
@MKBHD back in the days the very first nike wearable wristband didn't have sub either, they offer a simple web app. if you don't consume token, it's just software
Charli xcx is joining Nothing as our latest Shareholder and our first Global Brand Ambassador.
This isn't a traditional endorsement deal. Charli is investing in Nothing and helping shape what we build from here.
The campaign today is just the start. Charli is the first of more to come.
I am very much tired with running with NRC (nike run club), it's just mediocre / bland / boring. I want something that is more intelligent, engaging and fun. I have been wanting one of this since maybe 10 years ago. It was a dream by then, but we all know that we are living in a different time.
So I built one.
It has EVERYTHING that NRC has (this alone already means something), plus context-aware coaching and voice feedback, like a true running companion, watching you with every step.
For my personal taste, I'd like to have a distilled Ricky Gervais constantly trolling about everything that I experience during the run. One of the things is the exact song that I am listening to at one particular moment.
During a 10km training run, especially near the end, your brain starts bargaining with your legs like a failing startup negotiating bridge funding. You notice tiny things. The song. The street. The sudden heart rate spike. The tiny pace drop you pretend didn’t happen. The boredom. The pain. The weird little details that only show up when your oxygen budget is being audited.
The idea is simple: instead of just tracking the run, the coach reacts to it. It comments on the music, the pace change, the heart rate surge, the location, the mood of the whole thing. Everything is dynamic. It feels less like an app and more like someone is running alongside you, paying attention, and occasionally insulting you for motivational purposes.
All this takes, is a Claude Code Max 5x sub.
What a time to be alive.

All Fydetab Duos are about to be sold out. Kinda have mixed feelings about this - I wanted them to be sold out so bloody desperately back in 2024. But now, with memory price gone absolutely haywire and RK3588 is still a thing, looking at the piles gone thiner, I am trying my best not to bump up the retail pricing
claude code returns to normal intellect, gpt 5.5 drops, deepseek v4 drops, what a friday, feels like christmas with a/c on sipping cold brew in short sleeves and flip flops 🌴
