Produced by the Dicastery for Integral Human Development and EWTN a video reflection on Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical on safeguarding the human person in the time of artificial intelligence, opened the historic launch event on May 25, 2026 in the Vatican.
Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney#Cameroon https://t.co/bKteFZ3iWE
Watching The Strokes at Coachella…
It’s so refreshing to see a band talk in between songs. Julian’s banter is clearly unrehearsed + stream of thought which means a lot of it doesn’t land with the crowd…BUT that’s because a crowd has become so accustomed to hearing the same speech over n over OR no talking at all. Too many big artists are creating shows where they bleed every track into each other seamlessly…which in theory sounds great…BUT it takes all the human out of it. I’d rather hear a crowd go silent + seem a little awkward in between songs then watch a completely choreographed set that you know the artist has every move + speech planned. We need more real moments more than ever. Interested to hear the reception of The Strokes set cuz there’s a good chance people will say it was boring or stale or something when in all reality it was the realest set performed on main stage this year…as of right now. Bieber is next + I have high hopes he is gonna give a show FULL of real moments.
NEW: Pope Leo XIV’s close ally Cardinal Robert McElroy received a standing ovation at the end of his homily, where he called on Catholics to take up civic action to help end the “immoral” war against Iran.
“When we leave this church tonight, we must move beyond prayer. As citizens and believers in this democracy that we cherish so deeply, we must advocate for peace with our representatives and leaders.
“It is not enough to say we have prayed. We must also act. For it is very possible that the negotiations will fail because of recalcitrance on both sides, and the president will move to re-enter this immoral war.
“At that critical juncture, as disciples of Jesus Christ called to be peacemakers in the world, we must answer vocally and in unison:
“No. Not in our name. Not at this moment. Not with our country.”
I miss Modlife so much, man.
This clip was part of a live stream where Tom took fan requests and played a couple dozen songs. Sadly, most of it was lost to time.
Looking back, it’s incredible to see Tom reconnecting with his blink-182 roots just months before the band reunited.
Pope Leo XIV: "The supreme rule in the Church is love. No one is called to dominate; all are called to serve. No one should impose his or her own ideas; we must all listen to one another. No one is excluded; we are all called to participate. No one possesses the whole truth; we must all humbly seek it and seek it together."
"[W]e must dream of and build a more humble Church; a Church that does not stand upright like the Pharisee, triumphant and inflated with pride, but bends down to wash the feet of humanity; a Church that does not judge as the Pharisee does the tax collector, but becomes a welcoming place for all; a Church that does not close in on itself, but remains attentive to God so that it can similarly listen to everyone. Let us commit ourselves to building a Church that is entirely synodal, ministerial and attracted to Christ and therefore committed to serving the world."
