Using sticky notes to build student writing - fantastic! Simplifies the process, makes revision less daunting, feedback becomes specific and immediately actionable. Writing process becomes construction! @AngelaStockman #mptca2019#makewriting
Start with the hardest invitation first. Only scaffold when necessary. 9 times out of 10 students can do more than we allow them! @angelastockman #mptca2019#makewriting
We often teach conventions ('these are the rules - do this'). We should teach conventionalities ('let's look at examples and see what they have in common'). Many of the rules we teach don't actually exist in real writing. @AngelaStockman #mptca2019#makewriting
"Use loose parts to make a small moment of a pain point in teaching writing." Mine? Feedback that amounts to white noise! @AngelaStockman #mptca2019#makewriting
I love the possibilities with VR and AR! Students exploring a virtual reality Lord of the Flies island while they read the novel? Heck yes. @nlakusta @cospaces_edu #mptca2019
Sometimes it's the little things that blow my mind -- like creating a Table of Contents in a Google Slides? HEY-O! Look out, kids, our Slides game is going up a notch tomorrow. @tumbach#ERLCEdTech
Was thinking about @buildfutures1 all last night. I need to make something like it happen in my area. Told a friend about it and their response was, "If they had that in my high school, I probably wouldn't have dropped out in grade 10." EXACTLY! @Maturner3 @verenanz#ERLCEdTech
Love that @ajjuliani referred to himself as an "expert learner." When I find a topic that interests me, I'm all in: consumed with learning about it, a NEED to read everything, watch every video, talk to experts. So, my "why"? Help my students have that experience too. #ERLCEdTech
"The first 30 minutes of class: kids are engaged, you feel like you're killing it as a teacher. Later in the day you might get a death threat. I don't think other adults have these kinds of high/low experiences at work." (paraphrasing @mrbrass78)
