Angus is a leader with the strength, discipline, and clarity of purpose required for the immense task ahead.
Now, more than ever, Australians need a Liberal Party ready to hold a bad Labor government to account, restore economic responsibility, and fight for aspiration, opportunity, and national strength.
WA ALSF DRINKS 🦢
Last week Team WA hosted a fantastic drinks event with Liam Staltari MLA and the Hon Anthony Spagnolo MLC. 🍻
It was a great night bringing Liberal students together, connecting with MPs, and celebrating the strength of our movement here in the West.

Axe the Student Tax! 🪓
Every year, students are slugged with a $160 million Student Tax — the Student Services & Amenities Fee (SSAF). That’s $365 from every student, ripped from our pockets even if we never see any benefit.
Instead of helping students, the SSAF bankrolls student unions and the National Union of Students — organisations that funnel money into political activism, not student support.
You get no vote. No choice. Pay up, or risk being blocked from graduating. During COVID, when campuses were closed, universities still raked in $400 million in SSAF payments. Outrageous. 😡
This is about fairness, transparency, and freedom of choice. Students should never be forced to bankroll political causes they don’t support.

STATEMENT
Tragic Death of Charlie Kirk
The Australian Liberal Students’ Federation (ALSF) is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Mr Charlie Kirk. On behalf of our members nationwide, we extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time.
Political violence has no place in any democracy. The right to hold, express, and debate differing political views is fundamental to the freedom and prosperity of open societies. Disagreement must never descend into violence.
Australia has long been proud of its robust yet respectful democratic traditions. These events serve as a sobering reminder of the need to safeguard civility in our public discourse and to reject all forms of political extremism, regardless of ideology or affiliation.
We call on all Australians, across political, social, and cultural divides, to recommit to the principles of democracy, mutual respect, and the peaceful contest of ideas. The ALSF will continue to advocate for these values and to stand firmly against any act that threatens them.
Cooper Bates
President
Australian Liberal Students’ Federation
🤝 The President of the Federation, Cooper Bates, had the oppertunity today to meet with the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Australia, His Excellency Mr @MaimonAmir
The two discussed the alarming rise in antisemitism on Australian campuses.
Every student, regardless of their background, faith or views has the right to attend university free from intimidation, harassment or hate.
Enough is enough. 🛑
The ALSF will always stand up for the rights of students to feel safe, respected, and free to speak their minds on campus. #auspol

Fantastic speech earlier today from @PeterDutton_MP at @LiberalAus Federal Council.
He outlined the direction we are headed as Party and told delegates of the many broken promises and bad decisions of the Albanese Labor Government.

Day 2 of @LiberalAus Federal Council.
@DavidCrisafulli is speaking about the failures of the QLD Labor Govt, worst hospital ramping in the nation, a broken State Budget, a youth crime ciris and out of control energy prices.
The ALSF is attending the 63rd Federal Council of @LiberalAus.
Listening to @LibbyMettam deliver an address to delegates about the woeful WA Labor Government that's failing the people of WA.
"The Budget does not address structural challenges and will only make life more difficult for Australian families, small businesses, self-funded retirees, and mortgage holders," says ALSF President @KeatingBlake

The SSAF is a $100+ million dollar a year unfair, undemocratic and unnecessary tax.
The SSAF is compulsory student unionism under a different name that funds the hard left on campus. Help us stand up for students.

As the ALSF wraps up our week in Canberra, we want to thank the many Coalition Senators and Members that were generous with their time to meet us during a hectic sitting week. We all know that it's time to #axetheSSAF
The ALSF had the privilege to meet with @PeterDutton_MP today in Canberra.
We discussed the SSAF, freedom of speech on campus and how we can grow the Liberal Party. We are meeting with other coalition Senators and Members this week.
Another week, another integrity crisis.
Today a senior Education Queensland bureaucrat embroiled in the school Principal appointment that led to Jackie Trad quitting cabinet has resigned, after two years of full pay.
Queenslanders deserve better.
It is a real honour to have been unanimously re-elected as President of the @ALSF on the weekend at our 71st Federal Council.
Congratulations to all the others who were elected to the new exec, looking forward to the year ahead standing up for Liberal Students across Australia.
