Big news in heart health!

The FDA has granted De Novo authorization to a new AI tool called CaRi-Heart.

Until now, doctors have mainly relied on calcium scoring from heart CT scans to look for plaque buildup in the coronary arteries.

But calcium isn’t the whole story.

Some plaques are more dangerous because they are inflamed and more likely to rupture.

🔴 Vulnerable plaque → softer, inflamed, higher rupture risk
🟢 Stable plaque → harder, less inflamed, lower rupture risk

CaRi-Heart uses existing heart CT scans to measure coronary inflammation and may help identify higher-risk patients, even some with little or no calcium buildup.

Early study data presented at a medical conference suggested that people with the highest inflammation scores had a much higher risk of heart-related death. (The full published results are still awaited, so the numbers may change.)

A promising step toward earlier heart risk detection.

@seedance What stands out to me is that localizing one campaign across markets is where this feature set really makes sense. It should make local adaptation far less painful.
