I did not vote Labour today for the first time in my life. This made me feel sad and also angry with the people responsible for the destruction of Enfield Labour. I am a traditional Labour supporter but the Labour party in Enfield no longer genuinely represents Labour values.
@PpeterPeter Visited a few weeks ago (again) and still absolutely love it. The buildings are great and the whole vibe is relaxed and welcoming, which given the location is miraculous. Good corners. More please ... ideally in Enfield
A hazy shade of winter. Early morning sun trying to break through the mist, as a bird soars above a moored boat on the Thames in Chiswick, with only me to see it.
You know what will help the transition to renewables more? Actually transitioning to renewables and not focussing first on keeping fossil fuel use going with a shortsighted and extremely expensive scheme to spend public money on
‘Mile End’, new drawing 2024. When I first saw this shop-front in 1980s, next to Guardian Angels Church, I passed it by as of no interest; now time has added an interesting patina @thegentleauthor @GrimArtGroup @ahistoryinart @PaintingsLondon
Labour councillors ignore serious road safety issues to approve Labour councillor's planning application!!
Speaks volumes about the integrity of these councillors - Sinan Boztas, Mahym Bedekova, Kate Anolue, Nelly Gyosheva, Ahmet Hasan and Thomas Fawns

@GeorgeMonbiot The promise of carbon capture was used to justify the expansion of the Edmonton Incinerator - these announcements show just how absurd that promise was.
We are now lumbered with an incinerator which will chug out 700,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year for the foreseeable!
The reality of carbon capture has been laid bare by recent announcements - it's massively expensive and only potentially realistic for select large sites.
Why on earth did Enfields councillors believe this would be installed at the new Edmonton incinerator?
They were warned!
@hackneycitizen @LDRSHIC Councillors in Enfield were warned about this and many other issues with the expanded incinerator in 2022 and Ergin Erbil, now leader, said it would be resolved by carbon capture technology by 2030.
So what happened to that then?
@geographyjim Well done for spreading misinformation. No wonder the GLA is such a mess. You must surely know that the economics in Japan are very different, and people in the UK will therefore misinterpret these charts?

@Emina_ibrahim@justspace7@Nesil_Caliskan She has not been good for Enfield. Failed to deliver Meridian Water, missed housing targets, new local plan undelivered, far more empty homes, social housing left to ruin. Plus found guilty of bullying colleagues and of interfering with the scrutiny function... etc etc
