As of 19 March, there are 34 new #COVID19 cases bringing the total to 150 people, the majority of whom are based in Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces respectively. Of the 34 newly confirmed #COVID19 cases, the majority are imported and two are locally transmitted.

An antiviral drug, Favipiravir has completed clinical trials in China. The drug has been shown to prove its efficacy against the novel Coronavirus. No serious adverse effects found.

Favipiravir has been recommended for use in the treatment of COVID19 in China at the earliest.
