Müşterinin kendi IT ekibi, panikle şifrelenmiş tüm canlı sistemleri formatlayıp silmiş ve üzerine yeni sunucular kurmuştu.
Ekibimle gurur duyuyorum.

🌍 Language Barriers: How Far Can They Take You?
I’ve been abroad for a while, which gave me time to reflect and bring fresh insights for you. Now I’m back, and today, we’ll discuss a crucial yet often overlooked career hurdle: Language Barriers.
📌 Have you ever thought about this?
“How far can I go in cybersecurity or tech without knowing a foreign language?”
Let’s imagine this:
We went abroad as a company to discuss handling the cybersecurity operations of a major bank. In the meeting, people spoke Turkish, Arabic, and English simultaneously. Yes, there were translators, but here’s the thing: No one can express your ideas as clearly as you can in your own words. Translators often miss nuances, and your key points may not be conveyed effectively. This highlights the critical importance of knowing a language.
🌐 What Does Knowing a Language Bring You?
💡 You Can Reach Wider Audiences:
Whether you’re developing software or offering a service, working in only one language limits your audience. Knowing English allows you to connect globally. Participating in such international projects boosts both your professional and business standing.
📚 You’ll Access Broader Resources:
Think about how often you’ve asked, “Is there a source in my language?” Most of the time, there isn’t! Knowing English gives you access to a vast pool of information—books, forums, articles—that can accelerate your growth.
🏢 You’ll Stand Out in Corporate Roles:
Large companies prioritize candidates and partners who speak foreign languages. Knowing English and additional languages helps you build stronger connections with these firms.
🎯 Is Learning a Language Intimidating?
Not with the right approach! Ask yourself: “Where could I be a year from now if I start today?” The answer: far ahead. Here are a few tips:
- Watch movies and shows with subtitles: Soon, you won’t even need them.
- Use language apps
- Find people to practice with: Don’t be shy—everyone starts somewhere!
🌟 One Final Note:
Learning a language doesn’t just advance your career—it broadens your perspective on life. Each new language is not just a set of words but a gateway to understanding a new culture.
Remember this: Every new language opens a new world. No matter where you work, knowing a language will always set you apart. Take the first step today and reshape your future!

🔍 The Problem with Rote Learning
🎓 The education system often pushes us toward memorization rather than true learning. But let’s face it: what you memorize might help you pass an exam, but in life—and especially in fields like cybersecurity—critical thinking and problem-solving are what truly matter.
📌 Memorization is temporary; learning is permanent. So how do you move from rote learning to real learning?
📚 1. Learn by Doing Projects
Reading books is great, but unless you apply what you’ve learned in a project, you haven’t truly understood it. For example, build an application, set up a security system, or contribute to an open-source project. Hands-on experience is the best way to internalize knowledge.
⚙ 2. Don’t Be Afraid of Mistakes
Yes, you will make mistakes. And that’s okay! In fact, mistakes are one of the most powerful learning tools. Ask yourself, “Why didn’t this work? What went wrong?” Learning from errors builds resilience and deeper understanding.
❓ 3. Ask Questions
Instead of memorizing, focus on understanding. Ask yourself, “Why does this work this way?” Every question you ask opens the door to a new layer of knowledge.
⚡ The Downside of Rote Learning
Memorized knowledge works well in theory but rarely translates to real-life situations. After graduation, you’ll face real-world problems that require more than rote answers. To bridge this gap, you need to adopt a critical and questioning learning model.
🌟 In Summary
Memorization is a temporary fix; true learning is a lifelong skill. Success doesn’t come from memorizing answers but from solving problems and approaching challenges with a curious, analytical mindset.

Pushing Beyond Limits: The Real Art of Ransomware Recovery 🚀
Ransomware cases often demand more than just skill—they require you to go beyond everything you’ve ever done. When faced with complex scenarios, you have to push past your own experience and find solutions that don’t yet exist. 🔍🔒 Ransomware recovery is not about routine; it’s about innovation.
Today’s challenge involves 📂 an 800 GB damaged Veeam Backup (vbk) file. This isn’t just a matter of fixing it; it’s about breaking it down, understanding its very structure, and extracting what we need using ⚙️ hex-based processing. Every byte has to be carefully analyzed, and every step takes us closer to the goal. 🛠️💡
💡 Every ransomware case is a new battle, demanding unique strategies and skills. There’s no manual, no shortcut—just relentless problem-solving and adaptation. ⏳ This operation has been running for 8 hours and counting, with all efforts directed toward recovering critical data buried deep in this massive file.
These challenges test patience, persistence, and creativity. The outcome? Time will tell. But giving up? That’s not in our playbook. 💪🔥

🔑 Mentorship: Taking the Right Steps and Setting Realistic Expectations
📌 Mentorship holds a crucial place in one’s career journey. However, for it to be effective, you must first decide which path you want to take. 🚀 Don’t approach a mentor with the question, “What do I need to learn?” Instead, clarify your goals and approach them with specific issues you need help with. Mentors are there to help you overcome obstacles, but they are not teachers. 🧠 Self-learning is the foundation of this field. If you solely rely on a mentor and fail to manage your own process, you’ll end up as a copy of someone else, incapable of adding unique value.
🗺️ Create a career roadmap for yourself and assign a primary mentor to oversee it. However, for specific technical problems, you can seek help from other mentors on a short-term basis. 🎯 Your main mentor should guide your overall career, while other mentors focus on resolving particular technical issues. This distinction ensures a healthy relationship with your mentor and keeps your progress under control.
🤝 Choosing the right mentor is crucial. Expecting a mentor to share “everything they know” is a significant mistake. Mentors only share what they choose to teach. Your role is to use their guidance to fill your gaps and create unique contributions along the way.
🌐 While online education is widely used today, it cannot replace face-to-face training. By nature, humans learn more effectively when all their senses are engaged. 👨🏫 This is one of the reasons why the master-apprentice relationship was so impactful in the past. In today’s world, this gap cannot be fully bridged by online methods. Working in person will not only improve your practical skills but also help you build a professional network more quickly.
💼 Finally, remember that mentorship is a professional exchange. Your mentor is not obligated to share everything with you. They will only share what they find valuable to teach. By managing your time wisely and leveraging the support of your mentor, you can become a standout professional.
✨ The best part of working with a mentor is their ability to help you find your path faster. A good mentor provides valuable insights, access to practical experiences, and guidance that aligns with your learning journey.
📡 Additionally, through your mentor’s network, you can build valuable industry connections and open doors to unique opportunities. This is why selecting the right mentor and building a strong relationship with them is a significant advantage for your career and personal growth.

⚡ The Experience Trap
It’s true that companies prefer experienced employees. It’s also true that as a beginner, you have to start somewhere. I understand this cycle. However, to break out of it, you must take responsibility for your own growth and actively practice.
You are responsible for your development. Share your projects and learnings on social media to build a portfolio, but that alone isn’t enough. Move past simple tasks like address books or note-taking apps and challenge yourself with more complex projects.
Don’t stop working solo, but also join open-source projects to grow alongside teams. Otherwise, even after spending years in school, you may not have tangible results to show.
A common question young people ask is: “How can we do this if no one gives us a chance?” The core issue lies in understanding that companies aren’t afraid of inexperienced people—they’re afraid of becoming test subjects for unprepared individuals.
If you wait for others to give you opportunities, your salary range will depend on them. However, if you become someone who stands out, you set your own criteria. Instead of relying on others’ generosity, you’ll be in a position to demand what you deserve and manage these processes with confidence.
My biggest advice to young people is this: No one owes you anything. You must stand out by making a difference. Creating value means not relying on others but managing your time wisely and investing in yourself. If you keep waiting for opportunities from others without taking action, you’ll always remain in their shadow. Your goal is to become someone who is sought after. This is only possible if you develop yourself in ways that set you apart.

Cyber Youth: Advancing in the Field and Preparing for the Future
Cybersecurity is on everyone’s lips… But when you dig deeper, what do you see? A crowd relying on rote learning without understanding the fundamentals. Let’s change that with this series. Drawing from real-world experience, "Cyber Youth" will cover the essentials of navigating the industry. This is the first article, an introduction. The series will evolve based on your questions and feedback.
⚡ Cybersecurity? Start with the Basics!
Cybersecurity sounds exciting, but it can’t exist without solid foundations. Networking, systems, and coding knowledge are essential. Too many dive in without these skills, ending up with superficial expertise. Ask yourself: "What am I protecting?" Without understanding the systems and data flow, you can’t truly secure anything.
🌍 Language is Key!
Cybersecurity is a global field. English is non-negotiable—you need to know it like your native language. But don’t stop there; Russian and Chinese give you an edge in tracking global threats and accessing crucial information.
🎯 Don’t Chase Trends, Follow Your Strengths
Choosing a career based on trends or money may seem appealing, but long-term success lies in your strengths. Discover what you’re good at and focus on it. Whether it’s cybersecurity, software development, or data analytics, find your niche and own it.
🤝 Build a Dream Team
You can’t do it all alone. Instead, form a dream team where each member has a specialty—one excels in software, another in networks, and another in analytics. Together, you can tackle any challenge. Be the Voltron of cybersecurity!
🔥 Gain Real Experience
You can’t learn by staying at home. Use your student years wisely with internships and projects. Field experience is irreplaceable. Remember, theory without practice is incomplete. In real-world scenarios, threats are often hidden; once, we even detected a hacker who had been lurking in the system for 8 months undetected. This is why hands-on experience is critical to understanding and preventing such threats.
⏰ Cybersecurity is 24/7
This isn’t a 9-to-5 job. Cybersecurity requires constant vigilance. Systems need monitoring and updates; otherwise, they’re sitting ducks for hackers. Be prepared for long nights and working weekends.

🔍 Who’s Really in Control of Your Systems? 🖥️
Today, you checked your systems, and they’re running fine. But remember, hackers don’t act immediately after infiltrating your network. Depending on your infrastructure, they can hide and observe for months before striking.
📌 Hidden Threats and Strategies:
🔹 Long-Term Observation: Hackers can remain undetected for months, analyzing weak points in your systems.
🔹 Planned Attacks: Every step of the attack is carefully prepared before execution.
🔹 Compromised Updates: Inadequate control mechanisms allow hackers to cover their tracks.
🔐 What Should You Do?
1️⃣ Daily Checks: Ensure your systems are secure with routine inspections.
2️⃣ Monitor Anomalies: Use tools to detect unusual network traffic and system activities.
3️⃣ Regular Security Tests: Conduct penetration tests and scans to identify vulnerabilities.
Are you truly sure a hacker isn’t managing your systems while you’re watching them?
