Of course there’s explosion of HIV.

It’s higher among youth, because gay and bi men over thirty are already infected.

It’s higher because there’s no sex education in schools.

It’s higher because of income disparity and sex can be traded for things like an iPhone.

Mostly, it high because the governent has no plan. Read the article. If there’s no line item for HIV, there’s no coordinated plan.

There needs to be a coordinated, comprensive plan that includes education, testing, prevention, HIV stigma, and treatment.

There needs to be workplace protections for PLWH. There need to be privacy protections. There needs to be opt-out HIV testing anyplace people are getting blood draws. There needs to be sex ed in schools that includes information for gay and bi youth.

Too many people are finding out they’re HIV+ because they become symptomatic, which can be too late to benefit from ARVs 💔
