@markbland If your analysis of gerrymandering says this is a one party problem you have done none of the simple work required to be taken seriously. This has been used by both parties wherever they have had the power to impose it.
Seven thousand Ohioan soldiers--fighting for the Union--were killed during the Civil War. Trump praises Robert E. Lee, who led the troops that killed them. And Trump's Ohio supporters cheer. Now that's deplorable.
Yes. They are doing it.
People like @BrentGriffiths know their audience won’t dig any deeper and their lies will spread.
It is called propaganda. It is time we accept that this is who much of the Left has become.
Are we really doing this? Are we really pretending that this was Trump just praising Robert E. Lee for the hell of it (b/c, the obvious subtext goes, he's dog-whistling)? This insults the intelligence of anyone who checks speech. It was a wind-up to praise Grant for beating him.
The ability to see beyond the hatred for its enemies is becoming a defining feature of certain portions of the Left. The @splcenter is a perfect example.
The same folks clutching their pearls over chilling freedom of speech moments are stone silent when rodeo clowns go into hiding and sitcom queens find their entire careeers nullified by a single, awful tweet
Gay couple vs. religious baker a dilemma because two rights come into conflict. Equal treatment vs. free expression/religion.
This is probably the best place to draw the line
"We don't serve your kind here" = discrimination
"Must write 'Support Gay Marriage'" = forced expression
Why is the Saudis killing one guy supposed to be so shocking and beyond-the-pale when we’ve been green-lighting and providing backup for the Saudi slaughter of tens of thousands in Yemen since the Obama administration? We’re sometimes so precious, and other times so callous.
Obama and Bush never touched the Saudis. This is simply garbage from someone no longer rooted in any principle.
There are good reasons to distrust the Saudis. Our light touch on then goes back long before Trump.
Maybe this is an opportunity for @ABCNetwork to say “look, she said something dumb, she apologized and it’s over. We all make mistakes and it’s time to show that we are bigger than the behavior around us.”
Lead by example.
@brianstelter@jaketapper It is of note that because Khashoggi was a journalist, that this receives such a huge amount of attention.
We should hold Saudis to account, but the breathlessness about this should cause some reflection about the self-centered appearance by the media.
Trump’s USAT op-ed follows on what Paul Ryan said this week. Republicans have given up running on entitlement reform; they’re now running as the party that will save the Great Society from Medicare for All. https://t.co/um0vb3PbW1
@BillKristol Real solid representation of the “principled conservatives” by bullying a non-political wife of a politician.
The Left does this. We are better than that.
