Climate change is here, and it seems this is conservatively the last 10 years we will actually be able to do something to avoid the worst effects. You shouldnt despair at this and give up, you should be ANGRY, angry enough to stop the ones driving from steering us all off a cliff
@tankienetrunner@secondbyfarce does it matter?
the argument is teleological, just like marx's. it shouldn't be this hard to understand that, under that framework, the u.s. revolution and the genocide of indigenous peoples can be made historically progressive in the same way as the genocide in palestine.
see, does it really matter if the thug is called a cop or a landlord?
they're still the same role, only the difference is institutionally backed by a legal system that's intentionally designed for capital/profit.
*sometimes the owners are also workers under capitalism.
additionally, this only changes inheritance relations, but not the underlying land relations.
fundamentally, feudalism and capitalism are the same top-down system when organized.
both extract wealth from land, pay for access/rights, use coercion, and the workers aren't owners*
@alternativegold@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner Ending the forced locking of land into family lines absolutely changes property relations. At this point why even argue from a historical materialists perspective if you fundamentally don't think feudalism is different from capitalism?
@_Jyggalag_@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner it's not significant enough to be considered progressive, in the broader context, though.
also, the land relations themselves were left intact. so are you gonna ignore that? or is that too insignificant to label a remnant of feudalism?
@_Jyggalag_@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner if that's the hill you want to die on, fine. i guess ending entail and primogeniture was enough to make the revolution historically progressive lol, despite keeping slavery and continuing the dispossession and genocide of indigenous peoples. insane trade off.
@_Jyggalag_@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner the last remnants of feudalism? the land relations didn't fundamentally change either. capitalism replaced the feudal hierarchy with a capitalist one while doing the same top-down organization of "paying tribute"
@_Jyggalag_@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner listen yankee cunt, then why did the us immediately integrate itself into the atlantic slave trade? ending entail and primogeniture weakened aristocratic inheritance, but that doesn't mean the colonial property relations were transformed.
@tankienetrunner@BadEmpanadx all the underlying class relations stayed the same despite outcome. colonial expansion, slavery and continued genocide would have happened regardless of who politically backed it. only a yankee thinks it's progressive because the u.s. who won.
@tankienetrunner@BadEmpanadx sounds like marx is doctrine on what is historically progressive tho
meanwhile we analyzed the us revolution, deconstructed it, reviewed it, and based on the material and historical evidence, it is deemed not historically progressive, because it was not historically necessary.
@_Jyggalag_@BadEmpanadx@tankienetrunner the colonial relations didn't change enough for the us revolution to be considered historically progressive. british political rule ended, but slavery, dispossession, and class property relations remained. all that changed was who ruled, but not the underlying colonial system.
They want to make settler colonialism only a Jewish thing, so they can slip into innocence, and ignore their participation in settler colonialism they participate in which isnt jewish.
historically, white people have never been held accountable, but time is running out.
so white people are banking on a successful socialist revolution. they don't want china or some latam country to take the one thing that can resolve their socially constructed contradiction.
climate change is historically progressive!
since the 19th century, greenhouse gases, human population, fossil-fuel extraction, & species extinction have grown together in a mutually reinforcing historical processes.
but is this capitalism's fault, and not the working class?
@FoxyMarxist It’s the fault of capitalism, the working class will appreciate the urgency of, and so support, confronting climate change by taking the whole economy under public ownership if the process of why private property can only invest in fossil fuels is widely understood.
@theelishev your country would be fertilizer rn if it wasn't for those us tax dollars and nato support.
you should thank me. (don't)
but technically, you are my bitch. now silence!
