Matthew 6 ESV
Giving to the Needy
6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
The Lord's Prayer
5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Fasting
16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
The words from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Here’s the crazy thing…
I have kids. I film them goofing around on my 4k 60fps smart phone.
I play it back an hour later and it has all the same ephemeral, nostalgic qualities of my parent’s old VHS home videos.
The echoing, imperfect audio, the little voices off-screen having an indecipherable conversation, the babble of a TV in another room, the way the sunlight plays through the window, the handheld-zoom, it all imbues the moment with a quality out-of-time.
You are not nostalgic for something that no longer exists, you are longing for a time in which you were really present, in which every moment felt like something you would remember forever.
People take copious amounts of drugs trying to mimic the wonder of childhood, but the only way to really do it is to have kids yourself.
It's easy. He only needs to give valid reasons for not accepting them. Are there other reasons for these 4 men to not become bishops? We already had problems with the communists in the 60s, even if it comes from a group that probably doesn't mean harm, do we want to make it easier for anyone to consecrate bishops? Today is the SSPX, tomorrow is the "Church" of Silicon Valley. This is Peter Thiel's wet dream. I also must say that I don't trust the combination of the nationalities of French, Swiss, and American. Guess why.
Anyway I think this is a make or break moment for the Church and the Pope. This matter should be resolved in the open, with explanations of all sides given. We should be witnesses to how this plays out. I pray it ends well. It's good if Leo proves that he has legitimacy.
What if Pope Leo were to declare that the SSPX episcopal ordinations are invalid as well as illicit? @jdflynn thinks canon law would allow him to do so. Is he right? https://t.co/TQvC5D4Zy8
@Hydro818686@OMApproach The Messiah was said to come from the bloodline of King David. Joseph was a descendant from him, and Jesus too. They are looking for their fake Messiah.
@OMApproach They either want the descendants of David so they can have their fake Messiah, or are looking for the lost tribes of Israel. It's probably the former.
@hishoespanic@QuarterZippedxx Exactly. The JQ without Jesus ends in literal Nazism, or in other words, ethnic hatred. That's what low iq antisemitism actually is.
