On #EarthDay, let us reflect on our relationship with Mother Earth.
The #KMGBF offers a path to recovery, with targets to conserve and restore 30% of biodiversity before 2030.
Let’s act & implement the framework to create a sustainable future for all!

@PierrePoilievre Unsure if this matters to you but there are likely many Canadians like me interested to hear what other leaders would propose, how they might improve situations on quite a number of fronts. Constantly saying how bad the others are doing won’t attract me or other voters!!
The past eight years were the warmest on record globally.
We can’t relinquish our future to inaction.
We need urgent, large-scale & systemic #ClimateAction now.
I'm very frustrated that global leaders are still not giving the climate emergency the action and investment it requires.
Words are not enough.
Without #ClimateAction, climate catastrophe is coming for all of us.
@RahRahRaina St.Catharine’s Ontario Canada. Home of Dallas Green, @RonSexsmith, Neil Peart and the legendary Walter Ostanek to name a few. Attending same HS as Neil and spent weekends shooting stick at the Lions Tavern listening to @RonSexsmith growing up!!
Final thoughts on #COP15 - this holds as true today as it was when Leopold wrote it. Saw signs in Montreal that this lesson is understood by all that were there. We still have much work to do to teach others but the GBF will succeed only when this lesson in understood by all!
Very proud to be a part of it and support the efforts of the incredible Canadian delegation that was formed. Started in Geneva for me, supported remotely for the Nairobi meeting and finished in Montreal. An unexpected journey and a very good outcome. Thanks @s_guilbeault#COP15
Wish I had been able to be in the room even at that early hour in the morning and as awkward as it is also ended up being. Pleased to see that efforts were made to draw the DRC back into process. Hope that continues and African nations feel supported and heard! #COP15
We have the New Deal for #Nature & People!
The Kunming-Montreal agreement to halt & reverse nature loss by 2030 (the 1.5C equivalent for nature)
By 2030:
30% land, freshwater, ocean protected
30% of degraded ecosystems restored
200B$

I am too exhausted to tweet about the outcomes of #COP15 other than to say we have a new Global Biodiversity Framework. Its not perfect by any means - but my goodness if we achieved our commitments globally by 2030 - imagine what the world might be like? @RSPBNews @UNBiodiversity
@Megannety Now the hard part starts for sure. Discussion around a legal framework here in Canada is a good sign and hope others around the world adopt their own legally binding legislative framework that will drive this work unlike last time #AICHI#COP15
Finally we have the Kunming-Montreal moment for #Nature!
By 2030:
30% land, freshwater, ocean protected
30% of degraded ecosystems restored
30B$ financial resources

@stubutchart@SERestoration has those definitions and standards and effective in this regard speaks to the standards that would need to be employed to achieve substantial increase in natural areas by 2050 as stated in Goal A. Hard things are hard!
@stubutchart Also says enhanced and restored. Maintained, enhanced or restored. It isn’t perfect for sure but if you’re going to critique be accurate. In fact the increasing area of natural ecosystems effectively commits to ecological restoration of them which will take longer than 2030.
