As Nashville & Vancouver battle in the #NHLPlayoffs, I’m reminded of the big ways these two very different cities could learn from each other when it comes to better city-building. It’s striking that each is well known for aspects of city-building that the other is struggling with.

Nashville could learn from Vancouver about better public transit, biking & walking; less car dependency; and much more (& better designed) high density housing downtown including homes for families.

Vancouver could learn from Nashville about smart entertainment district planning & a general live music culture; smart cultural and tourism investment; and some pretty good #GentleDensity (ground-oriented housing variety) in neighbourhoods.

Always found it strange professional male hockey players neglect life-saving protection. Even @CoachsCornerDC has called for mandatory neck guards for decades. Considering many have experience wearing them, this should be mandatory at the highest level.
