The textbooks called him a "Tiger," a progressive reformer. But ask the Mandyam Iyengars of Melkote why they still refuse to celebrate Diwali. They remember the blood-soaked streets of Naraka Chaturdashi, where hundreds of their ancestors were slaughtered by Tipu’s forces.

And then, there is the ultimate weapon of the perverted mind: the myth of the "Breast Tax." A story meticulously crafted to paint Hindu society as uniquely depraved. They took the historical terms Thalakkaram and Mulakkaram, simple per-capita taxes for men and women and twisted them into a lurid tale of modesty bought with gold.

They ignored the reality that in the humid climate of Kerala, the "right to cover" wasn't a social restriction for the poor, it was a custom shared by many, regardless of caste. They turned a tax on labor into a tax on dignity, all to ensure that the modern Indian student feels a deep-seated resentment toward their own roots.
