Full Statement

We express deep concern over the recent U.S. military operation in Venezuela, as the use of force lacking international legal procedures poses a serious threat to international peace and stability.

This incident contains grave flaws when assessed in light of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force, and Article 2, Paragraph 7, which enshrines the principle of non-interference in internal affairs. These principles constitute universal norms of the international community and form the very foundation of the international order; they must be upheld without exception under any circumstances.

The cited “drug trafficking allegations” do not meet the requirements for the exercise of the right of self-defense under international law, and the forcible apprehension of individuals within the territory of another state without recourse to that state’s judicial procedures runs counter to the principle of respect for sovereignty.

The lack of democratic legitimacy and the human rights abuses demonstrated by the Maduro regime have rightly drawn criticism from the international community. However, the failures of a regime cannot serve as justification for unilateral military operations against a sovereign state. The restoration of democracy in Venezuela must be left to the choice of the Venezuelan people themselves and must be achieved through peaceful and diplomatic means.

What is particularly concerning about this incident is the possibility that it may set a precedent that justifies similar military interventions in the future. Should the perception spread that a specific great power can infringe upon the sovereignty of other states based on unilateral judgments, this would lead to broader instability in the international order. The Republic of Korea, which places the ROK–U.S. alliance at the core of its security framework, cannot but closely monitor the potential implications of such developments for the situation in Northeast Asia and the Korean Peninsula.

The government is urged to activate preemptive response mechanisms to prepare for instability in the international energy market, fluctuations in oil prices, and potential disruptions to supply chains resulting from this incident. Furthermore, all parties concerned must place the protection of civilian lives and safety as their highest priority and act with utmost restraint and responsibility to prevent the deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

We support the role and efforts of the United Nations and call upon the international community to work collectively toward a peaceful resolution of the situation in Venezuela and the restoration of democracy. Our government, as a responsible member of the international community, is also urged to make every diplomatic effort to ensure that international law and the values of the UN Charter are respected.

그 당시 광주 시민들은

이건 일반인들이 불가능한 일이다.
이 일은 누군가가 계획적으로 실행했다는 말이다.

우리나라의 남자들은 징병제로 인해
총을 다룰줄 안다고 한다.
또한 미국 한인타운 총격때 대응방식을 보면
광주 폭동은 일반인이 가능하다고 말할 수도 있다.

이걸 반박해보자면 애초에 미국은 총기합법국가이다.
또한 제 아무리 군필이라도 일반인은 무기고가
어디있는지 파악하기도 오래걸리고
이렇게 빠르게 털 수다 없다.

또 총을 뺏어서 그냥 대치한게 아닌
또 다른 전술로 기동대로 위장해 투입했다고 한다.
