My point of view on this is:

Two things could end up happening to Chinese dealers if care is not taken. There would either be a revolution, or something similar to the Ghana Must Go episode would occur, because the Chinese would take a lot of jobs away from Nigerian citizens.

Chinese (and some Indian) clients keep walking into dealerships asking for cars like a 2017 Toyota Highlander... then offering half the normal price.

A car that normally goes for ₦25-30 million? They’re quoting ₦13.5 million.

They are not coming alone either, groups of 4-5 people, asking questions, looking around, then disappearing.

Is it just aggressive negotiation... or are they quietly surveying the market while Chinese cars flood in? 👀

I saw one of my colleagues say he would rather have a 2025 than buy a 2016 Lexus. I didn't want to counter the business post so I will make a lone post.

Let’s play devil’s advocate for a second.

Now look at the 2025 Changan, Fair enough. It looks expensive in the photos. But five years from now, when the first major electronic problem shows up, when the suspension starts complaining about our roads and when you need a specific module and the dealer says
it will take three weeks from China what happens to that next?

Now look at a 2016 Lexus RX. Ten years later Parts? Anywhere. Mechanic? Everywhere. Resale value after another five years? Still respectable. And it has already done the test of time in the Nigerian roads. Even with the potholes it showed it was built for that kind of situation. The Lexus has already survived a full decade of Nigerian reality.

I am not saying the new Chinese cars are trash. Some of them are genuinely impressive for the money. I am just trying to maintain that looks more expensive in 2026 and still feels premium and reliable in 2031 are two very different conversations. And for a lot of people who actually keep cars long term in this country, the second conversation is the one that matters more.

Wavestar: Both carry real value in different ways. The dinner would be a genuine privilege and a chance to connect, learn, and plant the seed for future collaboration with someone of his calibre. At the same time, ₦500 million would give me the freedom and resources to keep building my own work at the highest level. If I had to choose one right now, I did take the money so I can stay independent and keep creating, while remaining fully open to sitting down with Davido whenever the opportunity arises.

But no!!!! You blew the opportunity away, 500m you no see, connection in future you reduced the chances of that happening also.
