Medical school will always be harder for those without family/personal wealth because (1) you have to pay for it and (2) there isn’t enough free time to work. We shouldn’t make it even harder by requiring outrageous research experience for residency which favors those with money to take time off.
It’s worth pointing out two things here.
1. When surgeries go longer than expected, that’s often when high quality anesthesia care is needed most.
2. Private insurance companies turn larger profits by covering fewer services, no matter how critical.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay Being a feminist, by definition, means fighting for the *equality* of all genders. Let’s all be feminists (like my hubby❤️), ensure reproductive rights, support one another, eliminate the gender wealth gap and call for Peace & Justice for Palestine.
How the AAMC leadership let things get to the point where their entire business model became dependent on
extracting money from desperate residency applicants is simply an astounding feat of mismanagement.
Now, any alternative application system threatens their very existence.

Of the many things that happen in a hospital when the power goes out, one haunts my memory, a story I have also heard over and over from other doctors who also worked in a hospital when it suddenly went dark
A thread about mothers and their children👇🏽
Right now, in Gaza, the situation is horrific and catastrophic.
Those hospitals and clinics that have not been evacuated are overwhelmed and are barely functioning. No electricity, no medical supplies. Surgeons in Al-Shifa hospital are now operating without painkillers.
