Χθες το βράδυ, οι ρωσικές δυνάμεις επιτέθηκαν στη Λαύρα των Σπηλαίων του Κιέβου, έναν ιερό τόπο αιώνων. Έναν χώρο όπου γενιές Ουκρανών προσευχήθηκαν και διατήρησαν ζωντανή την πνευματική τους παράδοση. Η Ουκρανία βρίσκεται αντιμέτωπη με πραγματικούς δαίμονες του πολέμου.

Η επίκληση της «υπεράσπισης της Ορθοδοξίας», της «κοινής πίστης» και των «πνευματικών αξιών» αποδεικνύεται κενό σύνθημα του Κρεμλίνου, χωρίς καμία σχέση με την ιερότητα, την πίστη ή τις χριστιανικές αρχές.

Την ίδια νύχτα, το Κίεβο βίωσε μία από τις μεγαλύτερες επιθέσεις από την έναρξη της πλήρους κλίμακας εισβολής. Περισσότεροι από 25 βαλλιστικοί πύραυλοι, δεκάδες πύραυλοι κρουζ και εκατοντάδες επιθετικά drones εκτοξεύθηκαν εναντίον της ουκρανικής πρωτεύουσας. Πάνω από 40 σημεία της πόλης υπέστησαν ζημιές διαφόρων βαθμών. Οι αναφορές κάνουν ήδη λόγο για δεκάδες θύματα, ανάμεσά τους και ένα παιδί.

Ύστερα από όλα αυτά, θα εξακολουθήσει άραγε κάποιος να μιλά για «αναζήτηση συμβιβασμών»; Συμβιβασμών με ποιους; Με εκείνους που εκτοξεύουν πυραύλους εναντίον ιερών τόπων; Με εκείνους που θεωρούν φυσιολογικό να μετατρέπουν πόλεις που κοιμούνται σε μια επίγεια κόλαση;

Η διεθνής κοινότητα οφείλει επιτέλους να πάψει να φοβάται να αποκαλεί τα πράγματα με το όνομά τους. Σύμφωνα με αυτή την άποψη, ο Βλαντίμιρ Πούτιν διεξάγει έναν πόλεμο που στρέφεται εναντίον του ίδιου του δικαιώματος των Ουκρανών να υπάρχουν ως λαός και ως κράτος.

Πόσες ακόμη νύχτες σαν κι αυτή θα χρειαστούν για να γίνει κατανοητό ότι δεν μπορεί να υπάρξει διαπραγμάτευση με την τρομοκρατία; Η τρομοκρατία δεν κατευνάζεται· μπορεί μόνο να σταματήσει.
